Patch 5.2

DFG removed.

Ahri and Fizz predicted to be bottom tier picks, since they were (in theory) hit the hardest.

Yeah, anyone who played in that patch can tell you exactly how wrong this was.

Yes, Aatrox COULD be gutted as you say. However, the removal of his HP costs and the buffs to his passive CD could be to Aatrox what that MS boost/dmg amp was to Ahri/Fizz.

The buffs to his passive cooldown mean nothing due to the fact that you only have it when blood well is full

I mean, filling your blood well isn't really that hard.

Q and E give you one stack apiece.

R gives you one stack per champion you hit.

W gives you one stack per enemy you hit with the bonus damage.

So, as long as you don't get CC chained at the very beginning of a fight (or caught out with no stacks by someone who can solo you).

You can get 5 stacks instantly with a QE-Auto-R if you hit two people in a teamfight (which, face it, isn't that hard considering the respectable size of Aatrox's ult).

If you are splitting, you should be sitting on a few stacks in case you need to blood rush, so you should be ok if someone comes to 1v1 you.

In some situations, that is definitely a sizable nerf (especially jungling in the early game), but it doesn't really matter in teamfights (especially if you have Ignite or Skirmishers to extend your Blood Rush in the case of an Ashe arrow).

Dude it is quite hard. Don't count R. It may be pre level 6, or it may be on cool down, or you maybe saving it for team fight that is about to happen.

The bonus damage now sucks.

"So, as long as you don't get CC chained" If you miss 1 second of combat and get hit by a 2 second stun, you are likely going to lose your Blood Rush, and have no revive and no bonus AD or AS.

I am telling you dude. I mained him forever. I maintained about a 60% win rate on my of my accounts with him, which wasn't easy considering I would play him against ANY top laner. These changes are a huge nerf.

I don't mean getting CC chained to make you LOSE the blood rush. I mean "Oh, Cho+Leona stunlocked me so I couldn't get my spells off".

In the situation you described, you wouldn't lose blood rush. Missing 1 second of combat and then getting stunned for two seconds refreshes your combat, so you have two seconds. Even we interpret that as the other way around, that's 3 seconds.

Btw, if this ends up being a major problem for you, keep in mind that DOT effects will continually refresh your blood rush, even if you are reviving. Red buff, corrupting pot, sunfire, cinderhulk, Skirmishers, and ignite can do this well. If you don't care about your build, Liandrys, Redemption, and DFT can probably do it as well.

Aatrox ult has a radius of 550.

For comparison, that's the same as Amumu ult.

Yes, Bandage Toss is a better tool for getting in the middle of things than Dark Flight, but you don't NEED to get in the middle: you need to clip two members of the front line.

Okay even so. When stacking, if you get CCed before you reach the stacks, you will have no passive if they finish you off.

Look dude, one of the problems of Aatrox was that he was very easy to shut down. He is even easier now that his passive is conditional.

Bârd1 votes

True. He can now be shut down pretty hard by an Ashe sternly saying "No".

It's a tradeoff. He now has the potential to revive more often, and revives with more HP/AS than before, but can no longer guarantee the revive.

Failog1 votes

All that means is that the will revive less, and he will die a lot without using his revive.

Definitely makes it a less risky champ pick

No riot just admitted that aatrox is going really bad beyond expectations this patch.

Where and when did they say that?
