CertainlyT, why everyone hates him so much?

  1. Just because he is the father of Zoe andYasuo it doesn't mean he deserve cancer. To tell you the truth, I thought someone in the position of power would look at Zoe and then look at CertainlyT and go "Take that champion back to the drawing board." Or just a large number of designers speaking out on the failiure of this champion's design. I know you're all thinking "When Riot designed Pyke they wanted a darker champion that is a support." But it was (Shockingly) his Thresh that was league's first "dark" support. To tell you the truth, Pyke was a faliure and Thresh was a success. Riot confused "entitled" support with "true" support. I'm not sure what its called, but in other games say overwatch. Support isn't a role where you look and someone and just "play" them as a support and then become meta. If MyCree can't provide direct buffs like a Mercy to his team then he can't be a support. Thresh was a true support while also having that evil aspect thanks to his passive. But Pyke comes in and he ain't even a true support. Granting gold on your kills on your almost-identical-ultimate to Darius doesn't make you a true support. He was the lead designer on Warwick rework. But then again, Akali rework was sort of a fail. They increased strengths in her weaknesses that the killed the old Akali. Why am I defending this guy, I can't believe he didn't double-check on Zoe and go "150% AP scaling? On a spammy ability? Get a free summoner 4 item 3107 summoner 7 in lane and never lose? Perfectly balanced. Let's launch it on the PBE and ignore the community."

CertainlyT gets so much hate and no respect for his success.

Thresh after some tweaks is great.

Warwick after some tweaks is good.

He did original Darius so not really his anymore.

Yasuo is fine now besides windwall that needs a change.

Zoe I hate and I believe is a hypocritical champion because Nidalee got reworked because of her long range near oneshots.

Akali will be fine after preseason guaranteed.

He makes champions that people either love or hate he is a good designer just needs help to take back some unnecessary parts of his design.

TL;DR Someone's said this before about him: He designs great characters... for a single player game.

Longer text: CertainlyT is a designer that emphasizes fun for the player at the expense of their opponents. This is bad multiplayer game design for reasons I shouldn't have to explain. He also makes completely overloaded kits with multiple passives and little counterplay.

As a comparison, take Bayonetta. She's incredibly fun to play in her own game, being super fast, powerful, and long ranged. Now what happens if you put that in a fighting game like Smash? She's busted beyond belief even after multiple nerfs. CertainlyT makes champions like that. It's unhealthy for the game.

Why? I'll tell you with a picture.

Yasuo

Mordekaiser worst Rework in League history.

That's my Reason

You forgot to mention Mordekaiser and how he basically made him a bug magnet by adding nothing but bells and whistles.

Fun fact: CT creates these champs but actually hates playing against them. He legit despises playing against Thresh. He has no self awareness.

Aside from that, what I don't get is how Zoe made it past playtesting and was released in that state. It's like no one at Riot said "she might be quite unfair to play against".

She breaks one of Riot's "five pillars on what makes a successful champion", being (un)fair to play against. This isn't even accounting for the fact that she breaks known interactions in League (being able to recast Q when she's unable to cast).

I actually look up to CertainlyT, as someone who designs his own champs as a hobby, i can see his love in creating unique champions, and the effort he puts into them.

Even tho i ... certainly dislike playing against his champions, i still admire his creativity.

Because champions he makes are fun to play as and not against.

I say this as a Darius main that used to main Warwick and Yasuo

pyke wasn't designed as a "true support," he's a champion that's meant to be an outlier design for a different role than a traditional support. Considering Thresh needed to be nerfed HARD several times before he stopped being the absolute best support, I don't think I would call him a success.

CertainlyT is an extremist in his gameplay design instead he likes to add flashy abilities in his champs kit. On one hand he is a pioneer in game design and adds interesting and cool abilities to his champ. On the other hand he goes too far and creates broken champions that have a negative impact on the game. It's the latter that people FUCKING HATE about him.

That's it in a nutshell.

Mostly becuase her tends to overload his designs and give them to many tools to work around their weaknesses. Thing with him and his designs is that he would be an awsome PvE dev as his designs are fun to play, but he completely ignores one very important aspekt for PvP: the playing against experience. Most of his creations really feel bad to play against, especially when they are played at a high level. This isn't an unique issue for him but applies to most of riots designs since S5, but he was one of the first and has some of the most infamous designs between zed, yasuo and zoe...

@thread

Design =/= numbers.

When will people get it through their skulls that designers dont really have much say in fine numbers? Zoe can be balanced - with numbers. A refocus on her Q, removing ignite from her W, reducing the duration of her E 'trap', increasing the cooldown of her E in general... Mostly numbers. Ideally she would also have the whole 'trap' thing removed entirely, though.

Old Darius I miss you so much*[cass-cry]*

I think the only reason he gets so much heat is because alot if his champion designs are fun to play as, but not to play against.

Personally, I've never had a problem with ThreshThresh or WarwickWarwick . Thresh is a very well designed support that has everything you'd want in a Tank Support, although I hear from some that he was problematic in Season 3.

Warwick was designed to be an Entry-Level Jungler and I think the rework did him absolute justice. He didn't receive a single Nerf/buff until after Runes Reforged was released, that speaks for itself.

Whenever Kalista Kalista is in a good place, she's always nerfed due to "Pro-Play". I accept DariusDarius as he is & given that I'm fully aware of what he's capable of, I don't have all that much to say about him.

When it comes to YasuoYasuo , you can tell good ones from the novices. The players that are skilled with him are absolute monsters at him & can be pretty difficult to play against.

Finally there's her, Zoe Zoe . I personally don't hate her, but she should not have been released in her current state.
