The Noob Guide to Getting to GOLD V

It's that time of the year, where you grind to get that one free skin (orange essence included :P) and chromas for being Gold V.

Are you hard stuck in bronze??? Are you stuck in the Silver 1 purgatory??? Fear not, the noob guide is here.

I am a professional get to gold 5 and stop playing ranked player. Listen to my wise words:

  1. Champ Select:

Pick a champ who can either 1 v 5 with resets aka Yi, Darius, Jax, Katarina etc or Pick a champ who can protect your team mates when they make stupid mistakes. aka Tahm Kench, Taric, Morgodna, Karma etc.

Unfortunately, we are in a game where how bad your worst player is matters more than how good your best player is. With the ability to one shot better than COD it is harder to 1v5 carry. So if you get autofilled support, that's fine, pick taric, make your team invulnerable and then the fools can try to 1 v 9 and perhaps do some dmg before dying.

Range > Everything else.

It sucks being melee, there are way too many disadvantages and not enough advantages. Unless you are mechanical god (if so you would not be in bronze/silver) pick shit that can spam your abilities from far away and then run away aka Lux, Ezreal, Velkoz.

Don't pick an adc. As much as rito loves their love childs and I hate god damn adcs. People focus them over mid lane mages even in bronze. You will have target on your back that you likely won't as non adc.

Cheese.

Learn the cheese, be the cheese. Do the unexpected. Make them think this dude is loco. It can be as simple as going support, building the sight stone item and then going full damage as lux or karma for that unexpected burst or invading their jungler at red buff.

  1. Mind Games:

You ever have that one guy who spams ff votes because he is 0/3/0 even though the rest of his team is deathless and fed.
Make one guy on their team that guy. Make them tilt. Make them fight with each other. Let the toxicity flow through them. Permacamp top lane. Gangbang their adc repeatedly. Make them rage.

I have won a surprising number of games by tilting the enemy, making them rage and fight with each other messing up their coordination and making them ff even when they were winning.

Be positive to your team. Do not rage/yell/scream. If some dude is doing poorly, give helpful advice. Praise anything even as simple as securing an objective or getting out alive. You keep them happy, they will do better.

Don't be the democrats/SJWs hating on trump. Expecting someone to do better by continuously ridiculing, demeaning and belittling them is dumb. Imaging someone has you at gun point and you yell them at "you idiot, you don't know what you are doing, f you, go jump of a bridge, you don't know how to shoot a gun" won't go very well.

Do the Repeared: ping and objective and then ping on the way as your champ. Make people think more than one person is agreeing to get and objective.

  1. The Smurf:

If you find a smurf in your game, beg them to duo with them. Forget your pride, Gold V and a free skin (Orange essence included) awaits you. Let them carry you out of Elo Purgatory.

  1. Focus on the Objectives:

Tower are literally paper, you will be surprised (or maybe not) how much damage you can do even with 15 sec death timers. Every chance you get take them.

This is especially important if you are jungling. If you gank successfully and kill him, attack the tower even if your laner needs to recall.

  1. Learn to stall/not die:

The number of times people pick late game champs like jax, nasus, vayne and then want to ff because they did not win/stomp in the first 15 minutes is ridonkulous.

If you are a god damn late game champ, learn the wave clear, stall and not fight till you get strong method.

Keep in mind, you are not always going to win lane. You might be first time nasus facing a teemo main challenjour smurf. Learn to stay back, farm safely, even at the cost of early cs, you can make it up later. If you die, you can't get cs anyways and they will get more gold.

  1. Put down a god damn ward:

You know that yellow thing in your inventory, use that shit on cd. The number of times I am laning and my adcs never uses it is absurd.

If they are playing the invisshit champs aka Eve, rengod, twitchy pie, Pike, you need them control wards, buy one, place one. It will save your ass more times than not.

In general, I personally find playing simpler champs is best for me. It helps me focus on other aspects of the game. So if your new, don't pick zoe, unless you were born to play her. It will give you time to think how to play the game, instead of how to play the champ.

Sincerely, A Serial Gold V er.

Edit 1: When I stay tilt enemy, please do not be toxic to them. Just emotes and friendly smack talk

this thread is 100% correct and i have no doubt in my mind it will work.

however i dont enjoy champs that can 1v5.

i dont normally play mind games.

although sometimes i may start one of they consecutively make really bad mistakes and i think i can really easily tilt them with just emotes and and friendly banter to their other teammates that implies I'm sorry that they have to deal with that person. (which is honestly truthful because i get them on my own side enough time to know how to feels)

but i would never* outright TRY to insult a person.

*- they would have to say something horrendously bad, that would easily get them permabanned.

The warding one is sooo important because it both protects you from ganks AND lets you cheese for free kills (with the right wards you can shut down the enemy jg so easily). Also the scuttles, non infernal drakes, and rift herald are so important! (I’ve seen many bronze silver players claim that only infernal matter which is incorrect. Wind for example can help snowball by making roams faster or make it so enemies can’t escape) Towers aren’t the only objective in the game and getting as many as you can can win the game so easily.

If you’re playing jg and are top when you spy that the enemy jg is bot? Free scuttle and rift herald! The rift is actually pretty easy to solo (and you can practice in customs if you’re nervous). Same goes for drakes if the enemy is top. (Always bring a pink and/or sweeper and keep an eye on the mini map so you don’t get collapses on tho). You don’t need to ace the enemy team to clean up on objectives in the area. Sometimes all it takes is the enemy being somewhere else. This also means that you can get something out of an enemy jg getting a kill or summoners on the other side of the map.

wait we getting orange essence along with victorious skin? that's neat but i wouldn't suggest picking taric too many ap supports now these days ._.

Or you can just learn to abuse enemy laner's mistakes then snowball the map.
