is my mmr for norms gold? Cuz rito always matches me against golds and im silver 5 barely
Like whats the deal?

what this means is riot believes you are playing on a higher level than where you are currently ranked, silver 5.
now instead of outright placing you up to gold ~~ whatever. they want you to climb through all of silver first.
although you are in silver 5. if you were to maintain a 50-50 win rate, you would eventually climb to gold~~ whatever. this is because your LP gains would be influenced to say. +25Lp per win, and -10LP per loss. and with loss prevention you no longer need temporary win streaks either.
basically you have to play around 150 games to hit gold~~ whatever your true rank instead of riot outright giving it to you. its just a way to give you incentive to play more ranked games.

not at all how it works, riot MM is just god awful.
you can only be matched with players of similar MMR, always. the only way to go far above and below the scope is for you to wait longer in queue. that silver 5 player is playing on a gold ~~ level that is perfectly acceptable.
or rather you have 9 gold 5 players who literally cant fall out of gold 5. however this one is debunked because there would be no consistency between this and the last game.
Problem is this player doesn't have high MMR (he/she has lower than average). Nor did he/she encounter Gold players in his/her Ranked games...
correct, checked his profile, hes playing against silver 5's and bronze 1's and has over 700 games played in silver 5 elo.
in normals it doesn't matter what their rank is, they have an entirely separate MMR for the queue.
2 in the same
Nope, you have an estimated MMR of 1146, which is lower than the average Silver V. 1146 MMR is about the average of Bronze I.
You're MMR is completely fine (lower than average, but fine). Last few games the players were Bronze 3 - Silver 5, haven't seen a Gold player in your Ranked Match history.
Best way to know if you have high MMR is to check your win/loss ratio for LP. Since you have lower MMR than normal, you should be gaining less or equal the amount you lose.
His question was about the competition he is facing in the Normals he is playing. I'm actually curious about that as well. . . Is it just random? or does the mmr apply in the normals as well, is it different in normal and ranked or all the same? For example I checked just 1 Normal game I played in recently and 5 of the summoners (including myself) were Bronze 3 to Silver 5 but the other 5 had no rank. Where do you even learn how all this works anyway?
Every queue has its own MMR. Normals and Ranked don't share the same MMR score (and neither does ARAM, for example).
Since he/she's talking about rankings, I automatically assumed he/she was talking about Ranked ^^'
If you were to only to play Ranked from now on, and let's say you climb from Silver V to Diamond V, then playing a Normal game would get you to play with Silver players. It is unfair for you to have lower-skilled teammates and unfair for the opponent for having a higher-skilled enemy, but it is how the current system works.
Riot has mentioned this a few times but I don't remember when or where. You should maybe try searching in Riot Ask or something.

normal mmr is different than ranked, a lot of players play many more ranked games than normal games so they rank up in ranked but their mmr is the same. You're just playing with people who happen to have a higher ranked mmr than their normal mmr, it doesn't mean your ranked mmr should be higher or lower
