PSA: Stop trying to do elder dragon with the ENTIRE ENEMY TEAM ALIVE

You will be found, you will be engaged on. You might have the disengage tools to escape, but you will die because you are stuck in the pit because you didn't pull it out.

Elder Dragon takes far too long to kill, you cannot take it while being contested. I will not join you, i will pad our minions waves to minimize our losses.

Elder dragon is not worth losing 2 or 3 member once the 30 minute mark rolls around. It just isnt.

This is the thing, elder dragon is supposed to be taken this way by design, it's supposed to reward teams that are ahead: Unlike baron it doesn't deal monstrous amounts of damage, nor does it have debuffs, so if a team of 5 starts doing it and they are ahead, the enemy team is at risk of dying when trying to engage to contest it.

Killing Elder gives a decent amount of team gold, not bad, and the buff can be interesting, even if just for the poke and added waveclear. If you know how to take it, it's a risk free freebie for a team that's ahead.

It's all about context, is it not? Depending on your comp you can easily shred the elder, especially if your team has the momentum.

Let's say your lanes are pushed up, and the enemy must respond, your team then has the option of pushing or taking elder/baron, etc.

TBH for an uncoordinated soloq team the elder buff isn't even worth it (unless you have literally nothing else to do) It's 2 minutes long and if the enemy team has half a brain cell they can easily waveclear for those 2 minutes (and your team will probably be backing off for 1 min of the buff anyways).

Like if you're ahead doing the drake itself is gonna let the enemy team close 1k to 2k gold on you just by farming + regaining vision control on top side, and if you waste the buff it's a mini-throw.

This is an oddly specific thread and in no way shape or form encompasses all strategy involved in taking the Elder Dragon. I'd argue that no elder dragon is ever worth it in solo Q unless it's free af or you have a butt load of drakes, but if either of those were true you wouldn't need it.

Methinks someone had a bad game.

Elder Dragon isn't even all that useful most of the time though if you have a strong teamfight it might be a good bait to just pull in the enemy team (as long as your own team doesn't focus on the Elder Dragon or something like that)

not in my elo when while you are doing elder their vayne is taking wolves , and ww is stealing the blue to thier orianna and they start flaming , and top laner is taking your krugs and pushing an their support is nowhere

Same for baron, when people try to do baron with clearly 5 alive enemies over the wall waiting.

Last game had a draven and Janna who kept trying to duo kill all the objectives. They wouldn't group and kept trying to two man the elder drake and the baron even if all enemies are alive and our jungler is dead or somewhere else. Let's just say they gave the enemy shaco some pretty good leashes..

I mean, baiting objectives is the right decision sometimes. I'm guessing it wasn't in your scenario, though, on top of not reacting properly.

When the enemy has good enough waveclear to counter the push, then you could just try to push in lanes and then go for another objective.

Sorry. I have to do elder with the other team alive and left handed. Otherwise, over too quickly.
