So RIOT decided to kill AP Trist, it seems.

PentaJump··2 votes·766 views

On the PBE, they lowered Trist's ratio on her jump from .7 to .5, and her 3 from .9 to .7. Before this, I figured AP Trist could still survive, albeit she wouldn't be the burst-God we knew her as. Instead she'd have to get auto attacks off to do much damage. But it seems RIOT decided they don't want her to be built AP, even if it wasn't going to be viable in a high level of play, and no longer was a toxic-burst build.

New AP Tristana will clearly be different.

That said, if you charge up the E with 4 shots, then R it into the enemy team, she will have new potential to delete entire teams with enormous effective AP ratio in a giant AoE.

Good, AP trist is 100% Grade A cancer

she wasn't that bad considering three things.

1.) Most ap mids could not only delete one person but multiple people where as tristana could only delete one at best

2.) If you actually built MR early, you completely negate her ability to do that

3.) She could not carry games

lets not forget they are removing DFG as well

The new explosive shot deals up to 100% extra damage if you hit them 4 times before it explodes, which means the ratio will be 1.4 if you hit them 4 times.

It used to be 1.0, and didn't require you to auto them 4 times. For comparison, if you build AD, and auto 4 times, the ability will have 2.2 AD scaling. Add that to your 4 autos and you have 6.2 AD scaling. 6.2 AD scaling is better than 1.4 AP scaling if both combos take the same amount of time.

Rocket Jump also gets 25% bonus damage per stack.

The result is that AP Trist can /almost/ do as much damage as she could before with DFG, if she autos 4 times.

Okay, different question.. why build AP on her now?

Let's assume you get an /unrealistic and ideal/ combo. This means e -> 4 autos -> w -> r You 2(.5)+2(.7)+1.5 = 3.9 AP scaling. Now, let's say you did the same combo but build AD. 4(1)+2(1.2) = 6.4 AD scaling. Also, AD Trist can actually build penetration, since her damage isn't mixed between magic and physical. And her combo is /faster/ than AP Trist's, since she builds AS more easily.

Trist needed the extra AP scaling she originally had on the PBE in order for building AP to make any sort of sense.

Jesus christ, she has a 3.9 AP scaling. As in, every point of AP gives her combo 3.9 damage. Her combo's base damage is worse, but seriously, when getting 100 AP gives you 390 damage on a combo you don't need it. For comparison, veigar has a 2.6 +.8 enemy AP ratio, and does not get resetting nuke jumps to go with it.

She had a 3.3 ratio prior to this update, and it was instant. Also, DFG existed then. With DFG, her combo was 3.9. And instant. If the only real change is that her combo takes 3 extra seconds, that's a big nerf. Especially considering her strength wasn't the amount of damage, but the speed at which she did it.

Dang, so I guess Tristana has to actually take some risks if she goes AP instead of instant bursting someone and then jumping out? I'm sure no one at Riot thought "hey, let's keep this person with multiple point and click nukes with the exact same extremely low counterplay combo" this idea through (before you say Veigar, his combo is really crappy, counterplay wise. He at least has to waddle up to you and land his E, and he does not get any escape after he does his combo).

Lol it should never have existed. Disgusting piece of shit, it was.

But what is wrong with the new AP Trist they had in the PBE? If you didn't auto the person, you had MUCH less burst than prior to the rework. If you autod them 4 times, you would do /almost as much/ damage as you did prior to the rework with DFG.

But now, with .4 ap scaling shaved off of her kit, building AP won't work.
