Anyone else notice wierdness with Sion's AA range?

When playing sion, it feels like His AA range is shorter than other melee champs. In his passive form it looks like he's almost hugging an enemy before he attacks.

I'm not sure if his AA is emanating from the correct location, and his model is taking up a large chunk of his usable range, but it doesn't feel normal.

Is this just me or is anyone else noticing this?
