Time to be level 30?

I'm pretty new to league so maybe I just don't get how to level quickly enough, but am I the only one that thinks leveling takes way too long? I don't spend 50 hours every week to play league. So after about 4-5 months, I'm still not even level 30. I play casually every few days or so. Usually 4-5 games a day when I do play. Probably at least 5-10 hours a week I get in.

Well from what I understand playing in ranked once I hit 30 is going to be completely different. What is the point of me learning how to play a game one way for almost half a year, only to have to basically relearn the game completely once I finally hit 30? Do people just no-life the game for 2 weeks to hit 30 and then play ranked? I feel like I'm missing something but I'm not sure what.

In an mmo where leveling isn't really the goal, (Like WoW and such) SKILL is the real goal in League. So why make the leveling process so long, just to create a huge learning curve AFTER you're max level? Makes no sense to me, since the goal for most people is just to play ranked eventually.

The first 30 levels are to learn champions, landing mechanics and build rune pages. It's the same game in ranked, only its draft pick (an option you can and should select for normal games) and there is a much higher skill cap.

If you play normal Draft you'll get the same experience. The only differences I know of are: You can use free rotation champions in normals but not in ranked. Which makes sense, as you level up you want to experiment with new champions. You can Dodge Games for less penalty in normals than in ranked. In normals your Dodge penalty will always be a time penalty only, starting at 5 min 50 seconds and increasing with subsequent dodges in a 16 hour window. In ranked, you'll also lose LP and if you're in a promotional series you'll get a loss in the series. So there's a lot more disincentive to dodge an abusive or simply bad-looking team in ranked than in normals (If you haven't noticed Games you should Dodge yet, you will in the future).

Take your time.

Skill matters.

Once you hit lvl 30 you will encounter more toxic players and children who are too busy thinking they are gods gift to league.
