Countering Heimerdinger?
I always seem to have trouble 1v1ing a heimer, (usually mid) and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for countering him? (Counter pick, or if I can't counter pick, then at least good strategies for fighting him).

Use W to grab his turret and throw it out of the lane.
Always target his turrets. Unless he has insane CDR if he has no turrets he's pretty screwed. If he has a ring of turrets then you must widdle them down. Also, His ult sucks, get out of range of that massive turret he has. And finally, whenever he uses a different ability, walk to the side. He's like a better version of Sion in some respects.
If you look at heimer's turrets you will see a white bar at the top, when the bar is full it will shoot a larger missile that does more damage. If you can, go in to destroy the turrets after it was just used. So when the bar is empty. This will help reduce the same you take to destroy it. (assuming you are melee) Some of the better champs that counter

as he can safely farm without dying, sometimes hard to kill alone but it can be done :) Hope this helps.
Clear turrets where ever possible. Get jungler to gank while turrets are down (NOT LIKE THE SEJUANI IN MY LAST RYZE GAME WHO FED A RELATIVELY WEAK HEIMER TWO KILLS BY TRYING TO SOLO DIVE HIM IN HIS TURRETS, THANKS FOR RUINING MY LANE. Uh, er, gotta take my crazy pills now). Kill the slow, immobile mushroom head. Rinse, repeat before he hits level 6. Laugh at how useless he is.
Otherwise, some good counter picks have been suggested. An oddball one - Fiddlesticks. 
has Dark Wind, which helps in clearing turrets and minions. If your Drain is sufficiently powerful, you can trade with him and just suck up his turret attacks as you cackle. If he seems likely to do some Upgrade! shenanigans, fear him. Your ult also melts his turrets. You are pretty darn squishy tho.
You can get the Ranger's Trailblazer so that smite will kill all his turrets if he doesn't spread them out.
just focus on his turrets and use long range champions. A heimer without his turrets is a very sad heimer
