Xerath in mage update?

I think Xerath's Q W E are fine as is it is in terms of what they do but may need slight power tuning. Xerath's ultimate on the other hand is bad. Is Does Riot plan on updating his ultimate into something that is actually viable?

Let's compare Xerath's ultimate to Zigg's and GP's. Ziggs and GP have huge AoE ultimates that can be used to waveclear and teamfight efficiently. Xerath's ultimate is a minuscule version separated into 3 shots that are more reliant on the enemy walking into them rather than you hitting it accurately. As for waveclear, it's horrendous.

Now let's compare Xerath to the more recent champion, Jhin. Jhin's ultimate has 4 shots but each shot has a slow and does increasing damage for a target's missing health and the final shot is guaranteed to crit. Xerath: 3 shots, insanely hard to hit, no CC, no increasing damage.

I mean come on. Xerath shoots fcking lightning bolts but the only CC he is given is his E?

Bottom line: Xerath's ultimate needs to be updated.

Xerath will not be touched in the "immobile Mages" update since he is defined as "Artillery Mage" similar to Lux and Ziggs.

Xerath has 1 hard CC (his E) and 1 soft but considerable CC (W bullseye).

Xerath ultimate needs a new visual as its current one is a "placeholder" that was used for an iteration where Xerath (during his rework testing) was continously shooting balls.

Xerath needs more sinergy with Keystones, right now both TLD and DFT aren't noticeable at all and in order to make some use of TLD you need to play against the role of the character (wombo-combo instead of constant damages).

Ziggs is getting his ultimate damage buffed, meanwhile Xerath needs to land 3 small telegraphed area skillshots and still has his maximum range popping out in a fat red line for every1 to see... League of Double Standards never ceases to amaze me.

I think he's going to get more than just his ulti reworked. He's had a 2% play rate for quite some time now, and I think when he got his ranged nerfed that kinda killed it for everyone.

You say that as if he is guaranteed to be in the mid-year mage update, which he is not. He has not even been spoken of by Riot. If they have then do you mind citing the source?

Am I missing something here?

Xerath (as far as I know) has never had his range nerfed, the only nerf he had post rework was a nerf to his stun duration.

If anything he plays with his longer range much more consistently, since he doesn't require Locus of Power to hit at 1000+ range anymore.

When he was released he had so much range he could snipe you while you were under tower from Wraiths.

He can still do that, Arcanopulse used to only have 1300 range with locus of power; it now has 1400 at max charge.

I've gotten plenty of offscreen kills with him even post-rework.

they spent so much time reworking him to what is now.
