So I played my first game of ranked in months today...

And it was about as bad as everyone here on the boards has been saying. I decided to try and finish out the split rewards and get the Mordekaiser emote because I think the champion is cool, but it might just not be worth it in all honesty. Before the game even starts, two of my teammates are already trying to get each other to dodge. I have a guy pick first time Nami just because the adc was whining about hook supports, lo and behold the dude feeds because he doesn't actually play Nami. My jungle dies in the back of our base top lane and blames me, the mid laner, for not roaming to save him even though he was under tower and could've just left. The dude instead tried to get a kill in a 3v1, then blames me for not roaming through the jungle the 3 enemies were in to help him, then proceeds to flame the rest of the game. The enemy team just steamrolls us.

I don't get what I'm supposed to do? I was ahead in kills at the start of the game then as my teammates started getting annihilated their fed carries came mid and destroyed me, we had an afk at 11 minutes, and it was over by 20 (no one surrenders at 15 yippee.) I don't understand how you are supposed to do anything in ranked when the enemy team picks a solid comp, goes for objectives, and plays safe if they are in a bad matchup while my team is playing team deathmatch and flaming. Riot slaps some people who tried to do brain surgery on themselves with a Pringles chip on my team and expects me to win and it makes no sense. The entire reason I play normals 99% of the time and hate ranked is because no matter how well or badly I play, the outcome of the game rests solely on whether my team has a bunch of people bitching at each other or not.

Basically, I wish Riot would actually enforce their terms of service and punish people who afk and rage every game. I've made that point about normal queue before as well (and it's worse in normal queue because you wait in queue 10+ minutes just to have someone leave in 5) but it's absurd that you can only get banned for saying zero tolerance words or literally going 0/30 with no CS.

Ah, this old play... I remember doing this when I first tried ranked way back in season 3. Someone would complain about my Support Rammus until I picked something I was less comfortable with at their behest, and I did horribly. It wasn't until I just stubbornly stuck to Support Rammus (and clawed through all the dodges this brought with it) that I finally climbed.

Ranked is insanely aggressive, and it's why I haven't played ranked again since season 3.

I just went back to normal, Riot is still getting a lot of my gaming time. It's just frustrating that ranked has nothing to do with skill and everything to being your teammates' mental health professional.

and when someone goes into a game /mutes all are they still being a mental health professional or are they relying on their own ability to climb?

I'm not even sure what you mean by this message. If you mute your teammates and they afk or troll because they're angry, you still don't win.

doesn't matter those people completely rely on their ability to climb and make the right decisions to do so they win far more games than everyone who tries to control the circus you know why? because they play the game instead of wasting their time writing novels in chat

I think you may need to take a reading comprehension class, I don't type novels in chat. That's what my teammates do when they flame. That's how I usually lose, I'm the only one focused on the game.

then you should be winning way more than you lose and this thread is irrelevant for you unless you don't focus on the game and instead participate in the writing of the novels either by reading or replying

You're right, I should be winning more because I focus on the game, but I can't when 2 of my teammates are on fountain or at their turret flaming each other every time I play ranked instead of playing.

The whole point of the post was to say that I wish Riot would deal out punishments for people who sit and type all game or afk in base the minute their lane goes slightly bad.

i mute all because i accept that there is no changing my teammates playing like idiots, ergo i don't have to hear them or read them playing like idiots. but i still have to deal with the consequences when zed gets a triple kill after walking on 2 pink wards and a scuttle shrine. there isn't any power in the roster anymore to deal with soloq being soloq.
