An item I miss

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/4/4b/Twin_Shadows_item.png/revision/latest?cb=20130710102449 It was a pretty cool item to have, even though no one bought it. It gave great stats, had a relatively cheap price and a cool passive. Even though Frost Queen's Claim got the passive, it should've been kept as a mage counterpart to it, as the movement speed buff and 80 AP made it more of an offensive item. Riot didn't really have a reason for its removal.

Nobody built it for a reason

it sucked

No point in missing a trash item considering it's unique feature (passive) was moved to another item that is actually good, and actually a core support item (the only champs that built twin shadows were supports)

That being said, I miss Zephyr because I don't think it was a bad item.

I remember playing with Zephyr, and it was overpowered and was rightfully removed. It was a Staple on any AD champ and made games boring and toxic when they didn't need to be.

shhh

hehe

It was quite a solid boot replacement

sorry but if twin shadows was a trash item then Zephyr was an even trashier item whose sole purpose was to be bought extremely late into the game when you had so much gold that you had nothing else to do but sell boots for it

Actually it was somewhat common on Riven in the Malphite matchup to counter the attack speed slow. You would occasionally see riven get a bit on lifesteal and then build this item, since there was no way for her to kill malph so being full damage was pointless. The attack speed allowed her attack frame to stay quick and not cause Malph's attack speed slow to muck up her animation canceling due to longer attack frames.

Of course, all of this only mattered if your gameplan was to splitpush top and win the game through that. Because then the high attack speed + movement speed were REALLY nice.

having 1 sole purpose > having no purpose

Twin shadows was literally built on Janna and maybe 2 other supports.

a purpose that it never accomplished and whoever built twin shadows actually did because of the active and not because "welp i have full build and all these gold to spend... i guess i can do with a bit more AS and some tenacity although my overall MS is going to be lower"

I never did find out what its icon is supposed to be.

Valor Bot1 votes

I always thought it looked like a blanket.

SpecterVonBaren2 votes

I always thought it was meant to look like a spooky mountain as a reference to Twin Peaks or something.

I bought it

It was really good for some champs and hugely under rated because it did not offer the most stats but it was able to scout an area when you had no wards around.

I would gladly take it being back in some form that is not a support item and we could really use another 10% CDR item.

Perhaps addign an amp tome to the build would make it more popular.

Aether Wisp + Fiendish Codex + amp tome + 615 = Twin Shadows (2800) 6% movement speed 100AP 10% CDR UNIQUE – HUNT: Summons up to 2 invulnerable ghosts that seek out the 2 nearest enemy champions for 6 seconds. If a ghost reaches its target, it reveals the target and reduces their movement speed by 40% for 2.5 seconds. If a ghost cannot find a target, it tries to return to the caster. Ghosts that successfully return in this way reduce the item's cooldown by 40 seconds (120 second cooldown).

pls we dont want everyone building it

I am just saying if Riot wanted to make people consider buying it.

Remember item 3092 at the beginning of the year? What about item 3116 now? We all know that either a) mages will abuse it to gain much more map control than they need or b) it will end up turning into the premier chase and kill item ie I'm Ryze I walk up, chase them, use the new item you are suggesting, then chase them down more, and e-w-e-q dead.

Irelia Bot1 votes

item 3092 was abused for the extra gold in addition to the all around good stats.

My issue is not with it being an option worth considering but if it becomes core on almost every AP then something is too good about the item.

100 ap 10% cdr an 6% movespeed for 2800g is pretty op lol

Irelia Bot1 votes

then why is

2400g 80AP 10% CDR 6% movement speed not bothered with?

Spaceman5pff1 votes

It is. It is actually a staple on Karma, an extremely popular Mid / Support right now.

A Liberal2 votes

;_; Don't remind me... I bought it on almost every support.

Valor Bot2 votes

"Twin Shadows" was also a wicked cool name for an item.

Truly Prideful2 votes

I bought it a lot on Bard and went coin so I could run talisman. Hope they bring it back.

Riot removes items quite often due to them being too niche..

yet item 3056 still exists?

Marshbouy4 votes

Isn't that thing getting changed this pre-season?

I think they talked about it at least.

Biggest issue with Ohm wrecker, is that it's active has basically no place in the Meta. It has fair stats, and it's pretty good at doing X, but X isn't actually that useful to the player or the team.

Which is why Riot wanted to give it a new passive that they can actually work with.

Marshbouy1 votes

You summed it up pretty well.

A Liberal3 votes

Why would you need to disable a tower when even squishies can towerdive with little risk?

Blue Moon Wolf1 votes

see, THAT would be fine to make into a CDR/Mana item. hardly anyone uses item 3056 to begin with and it's passive could be pretty handy for bursty AP champs that can't take a lot of turret fire. Much better idea than taking item 3116 that has it's own thing and making it give mana and CDR just for the sake of adding another CDR/Mana item.

ThatHaleState1 votes

That is one of the items that cant NOT exist. It was an item created and named after somebody or something so its like a memory item, whether its useful or not it wont ever disappear.

It wasn't until it was reworked into having crit and movement speed. You're just not old enough to know that.

Yeah I was and your point is still bad. What is was doesnt have any effect on it being a popular item right now

Yet zephyr was pretty popular back then, and there was nothing to stop it from being popular this season (especially if it had been given some touchups like runaan's)

Yet it was removed. While back then, runaan's was shit and yet it remained.

Riot removes items quite often due to them being too niche..

In what way can you actually support the item on a mage. Why would a mage want it? when would they want it the most? And can such an item reasonably occupy that space?

I point this out since yes, No mage wanted it when it existed. But after it's active was put on FQC, the mid lane mages ate that item up, and everyone hated FQC for it. WHY?? The Ghosts were no stronger on FQC than they were on Twin shadow. (and are weaker currently) Maybe the fact that FQC was viable as a starting item for mages. (it did offer Mana regen and CDR) And then people complained about the gold gen passive on a non support(though I think it's actual influence is over stated)

The other reason I say this is that we really don't necessarily need another version for mages. Nothing is preventing them from picking up FQC.

Samflash31 votes

And Riot added the mage variation in GLP-800 but you don't see people going for it.

Rip Rengo 20161 votes

^This is why.. Cuz it did the same thing but also had these 3 additional components.

tbh I didnt think shadows was bad, I actually started buying it right before it got removed

personaly I miss http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130319090010/leagueoflegends/images/3/3b/Atma's_Impaler_item.png

I'm hoping they add a workable version of it to the diver update (Yes, I know that's what item 3748 is supposed to be, but it's not the armor giving item that Atma's was. They are only similar in the sense that they both have a passive that gives bonus AD)

Spaceman5pff1 votes

Titanic doesn't even give HP for your health, just On-hit damage. This makes it extremely limited in terms of the champions that want it.

ThatHaleState1 votes

I LOVED THIS ITEM. As a semi Chogath main, I used to buy this as either the 1st or second item depending on whether i was top or mid. Everyone knows that Cho gets harder the longer the game goes on because of not only the mobility creep in the game, but as each game goes everyone gets boots and gets faster. This allows everyone to walk out of the Q skillshot easier as the game goes. The slow provided a wonderful decrease in their ability to dodge and allowed an almost 100% all in for me. Twin Shadows ftw

FantasySniper1 votes

I bought it...

So fucking good on mage supports.

Pierce The Veal1 votes

Ysed to buy it instead of boots on occasion.

I seem to remember two other movement speed items that were removed because they were niche...

Ahem, RIP FoN, RIP Zephyr
