Can we do somthing about others banning pick intent?

adjoth··3 votes·642 views

Its your pick intent, for better or worst you have some intention of playing that champion, but because league is so unforgiving players, your teammates, will ban your pick intent for salty reason like not wanting a poor [insert champion here]. I see this a lot for Riven and Yasuo, but others champions too. As such pick intents should have ban protection. There's no reason to ban it unless ur being an ass. And unless "being an ass" is part of the new summoner code and I missed it, Riot should being implementing this by tomorrow.

So should the person picking last get a chance to basically give the enemy team a free champion? There are flaws to having a "Ban" protection from this. I would rather not give the enemy team a free pick just because last pick wants that champion they more than likely wont even get a chance to get in the first place.

EVERY CHAMPION HAS A CHANCE OF BEING PICKED. SO DO YOU BAN OUT YOUR ENTIRE TEAM? Because that's what your stating, because it can happen I'm gonna piss of my teammate so we can all be tilted together? If your that worried, work with your team to first pick and trade. Lastly if your they're a hard Darius main, and you ban them out. You've only got yourself to blame if they play poorly, get tilted, feed, or just have an overall bad experience. After all, some a-hole banned the only champion they play. And what about in normals, trying to learn a new champion, while your "teammates" hold the lobby hostage because your new to Yasuo or Riven?

FOR JUSTICE2 votes

But if your in the top 3 picks, no one gives a crap and will let you play the damn champ.

adjoth1 votes

So your only allowed to try out new champions if your in the top 3? And in practice, no, I've been and seen first pick players get banned out because an ally didn't want a champion other their team, irregardless of the players experience with the champion. So apparently someone gives a crap. Another has even argued that if your champion isn't to their liking (whatever the reasons) it's acceptable to ban them out.

I didn't say that, because guess what? a lot of people don't ask if the people ahead of them have the champ too and request a trade, which is literally the reason it was invented; so I can garuntee a teammates pick

and while its not generally good from a comraderies aspect, no rule says that I cant ban an allys champ. I wanted to, I did. deal with it

adjoth1 votes

With how many times I've been first of second pick an had my champion banned, i doubt it

FOR JUSTICE2 votes

it wont happen every game, it all just depends on your team. yes, having your main banned absolutely sucks ass, I'm not disputing that, I'm just saying, maybe consider WHY they decided to ban them because nobody does this just to be an assbag

this is one of the sole reasons riot decided that you MUST have a certain amount of champs under your belt, in the event you cant get them

adjoth1 votes

98% are asshats, the remaining 2% have no faith. Riot decided nothing, I could hop into a game of ranked with no exp on a champion, so not sure where ur going with that.

FOR JUSTICE2 votes

no but I don't just buy 20 champs for no reason. first timing happens a lot less then you'd think, and while you CAN not a lot of people actually do

adjoth1 votes

And I didn't just buy a new champions so others refuse to let me play them, after the first 3-4 times it happens in a single day, it starts to piss me off.

I do it to be an assbag sometimes though tbw depends if the player tilts in lobby or not [ or if i happened to just play with them and they did stupid shit on said champion ]

the player tilts in lobby or not [ or if i happened to just play with them and they did stupid shit on said champion ]

both of which are legitimate reasons, tilting the lobby means you weren't gonna be a team player anyway, and if they just did something stupid, you know from prior experience they aren't too reliable on that champ (this is assuming you haven't dodged already)

adjoth1 votes

Personally disagree with dodging, thou I understand as to why it happens, lose a little LP and be on your way. That said in normals I'd take the play it out mentality, you can always ff if it gets to bad, unless you've got never say die teammates.

Taeseuk4 votes

Okay lets look at this from another view.

  1. Top lane wants Yasuo - 1st pick.
  2. Jungle wants Jarvan - 2nd Pick
  3. Mid wants Katarina - 3rd pick
  4. Bot lane wants Kallista - 4th pick
  5. Support wants Janna - 5th pick

All of these champions get picked a lot in games so the chances of them getting picked by the enemy team as much as the ally team is very high, should the other members of the ally team not ban Kallista or Janna just because they are wanted by the ally team and risk the enemy taking them instead?

Does it suck when your champion is banned, yes of course but personally I would rather the enemy didn't get to play my champion if it's a popular pick/good in the current meta that way yeah I don't get to play it either sure but at least I am not having to play against it.

The biggest issue with ban protection is it can be abused to much and it forces players to risk playing against people they have no desire to play against, the ban system is there for this reason.

adjoth1 votes

If your champion gets picked by the enemy team, you live with it, but if your own team is banning them. That's just being a dick. Especially in normal where your trying to learn a new champion. I've had games where I was 2nd pick and my teammates banned em out. Pick intent was Kassadin , now tell my how that just isn't being a dick. Also the ban system has NEVER been there to screw over you teammates because of a chance the enemy plays em. For example Yas doesn't see a whole lot of play, but because there is a chance the enemy will pick em, he gets banned. Secondly people ban them so they don't have those champions on there own team, not the enemy, the theirs vs ours scenario. Lastly if you want a champion, you can work with your team to get it for a first pick, but that not possible if your "teammates" instalock it out. Lastly It it not your fucking choice, and I mean this in the most polite way possible. If I want to play a champion, if I want to learn a new champion, if I want to do something non meta, ESPECIALLY if its just normal, you can polity piss off and let me do what I want. If I a hard fucking Yorick main, don't ban my champion out, then flame because you banned out my main and inexpedience with others during a game of ranked and am struggling. MY pick is MINE to make, not yours because of a random chance I might not get it, or because I want to learn a new champion, or because the champions has a high skill cap, MY choice, not yours.

FOR JUSTICE2 votes

But by that same logic, its my choice who i decide to ban because i dont feel like playing against them / preventing troll

Whether you like it or not, i have my own ban, and i decided to ban your champ. Case closed

adjoth1 votes

By that logic you'd can ban first pick? And if anyone see your summoner name, knows that they can ban out your champion, and you agree with that?

FOR JUSTICE2 votes

well yeah, I DO agree with that, because that's just how the game is played. don't like it? go play blind, or party up before you queue

FOR JUSTICE2 votes

{quoted}

. And unless "being an ass" is part of the new summoner code

no, but neither is banning my allies intent, especially if they specifically go against our teamcomp. also, how else can I defend myself from champ select terrorists?

adjoth1 votes

I believe the only terrorist would be you it that case. Your intentionally going against your teammates wishes just because you have a different opinion. Your actually trolling your teammates before the games even started, how you think that's gonna affect that member, you can be dam sure they won't work with you. And personally, if I saw that happening, I'd be dam sure to report you. Its a dick move, and the terrorist is you.

FOR JUSTICE2 votes

Ok i totally get it. Mid yasuo one trick says i get mid yas or i feed, but IM the terrorist. Ok. Noted.

no where am I required to give them their wish of playing zoe for the next 30 mins, nor am I required to even consider how I would affect them. also banning an allies champ isn't reportable

nice, you should look in the mirror then. Since you are doing exactly what you are saying. You want a very easy way for your pick intent to not get banned? DO NOT CHOOSE ONE! you are not required to pick anything in that phase. I am sorry you are not able to play a champion you wanted to play. We do not give a damn though

adjoth1 votes

The entire point of pick intent is so player DON'T ban your champion you wish to play? Else why have it?

ZephyrDrake2 votes

{quoted}

The entire point of pick intent is so player DON'T ban your champion you wish to play? Else why have it?

no it's not. The entire point is to let others know what champion you want to use. Nothing more, nothing less. If someone wants to ban your champion they can, you can do nothing about it. You don't like it? too bad! either don't choose anything. Pick a random option or risk having someone on your team ban the champion you wanted to play

FOR JUSTICE2 votes

the point is merley to tell the team who you WANT to play, that's all. and ya know what? when it says declare intent, don't declare one. even bonus points if you ask your team to do you a solid and NOT ban them. people in league have a conscience too

Demon King Maou2 votes

Sucks to be you then i guess?

If my teammate is last pick and wants zoe but doesn't have someone to pick her for them Tough shit shes being banned

Same goes for yasuo top or mid is last pick and wants yasuo but enemy wont ban yasuo because they prob want him too Now if enemy gets yasuo my top is going to be tilted before the game starts because he wanted the champion and will bitch throughout the game to the enemy yasuo that he stole their champion To negate all of this you ban yasuo mute top at start and play the game

usually yields better results than leaving the champion unbanned and having a salty teammate who tilts the rest of your team while you have him muted

adjoth1 votes

So what your saying is, by your interpenetration, if an allies bans your pick, your just out of luck? And you'd completely accepts it if everyone bans out the 4 and/or 5th players pick?

More or less its just tough love

VoraciousX1 votes

I'm for the ban protection. If you don't want the enemy team to take their pick intent, you can pick it for them in my opinion, since person who wants to ban them is the one with the problem, they should be the ones to sacrifice a chance of not getting their pick intent for it. Most of the time this is not the case though and people do it just to be rude. Even if they've done poorly in the past on a champion and you've witnessed it, not all games are like that and they do have to play the champion to learn it. Pretty sure it's been established it's reportable, so if that's the case Riot may as well fix the problem.
