Regarding the new changes to guardian
Guardian is the newest in "hidden power" mechanics: Like Bond of Stone or Aegis of the Legion's old aura, players are getting a lot of power from it, but they often don't feel it. We want to make Guardian a little weaker (it's overperforming), but also more noticeable (it's underappreciated).
This is what Riot had to say about guardian during the patch notes before they "weaken strengthened" it and adding an extra 20 seconds too the cool down of the ability. I personally think that this was the wrong way to go but as a guardian user I may be biased and as a bronzie I may not know what I'm talking about but I'll explain my logic.
So guardian was changed as such
COOLDOWN 45 ⇒ 70-40 (at level 1-18) BASE SHIELD 60-150 (at level 1-18) ⇒ 70-150 (at level 1-18) SHIELD AP RATIO 0.20 ability power ⇒ 0.25 ability power SHIELD HEALTH RATIO 10% bonus health ⇒ 12% bonus health
Obviously we're making the shield fatter and the cooldown lower, fatter impact and less uptime. My problem with this is I would consider guardian an early game rune to deal with poke in lane(which just might be coming back to the bot lane with the relic shield changes) and how long is laning phase? Some people on the boards would say 5 minutes(probs as a joke) but lets say it is 2-25 minutes approximately with a 70 second cool down that means you won't be proccing it anymore than about 18 times but lets remember that this is a reactionary rune and you have almost no discretion when it comes to this rune proccing and it's unlikely you will get an opportunity every time it comes off cooldown along with backs and whatnot you will probably procc(at this cool down time) about 10 or 12 times, well that seems good right? it would be if,and every guardian player feels me on this, guardian didn't proc at the slightest bit of damage, an auto attack, a scorch proc, comet, etc. I understand that knowing when to be next to each other is part of the skill but when you can't really talk to the other person it's hard to coordinate movements and with the higher cool down these mistakes will be punished even more. so factoring this in guardian by my estimations will get procced(on a worthwhile amount of poke) 6-10 times in an average lane which isn't that good for a reactive rune.
My solution to this(besides lower cd) would be to make guardian have a clause where if the dmg recieved isn't a certain amount(like 30 percent of what the shield would be anyway) then it won't proc, "but what I'm gnna die if it doesn't procc" there would also be a clause where if you are below a certain percentage of health the shield proccs no matter the dmg.
Thanks for your time.
