Toplane Tank Zilean?

Does this seem like a good idea? Ive thought about it, and came up with a build:

Early Core: Core: (the rest of the cdr is supplied through runes) Any suggestions? Any reason that tank zilean would be crap?

idk about zilean but tank veigar is op

i was in a game with one and he had about 3k health and tons of defense along with his passive which gives insane ability power

Zilean is an utility mage. He lacks proper damage and your build is all over the place. Rod of Ages works on champions that build tank stats or that are able to sustain and recover from damage efficiently. Swain is probably the best example I can give you. Zilean only has 1 damaging ability and the rest of his kit doesn't support sustaining damage.

Spirit Visage is only useful if your champion is able to gain health in any way. Champions like Garen, Swain and Darius all can use that item to some extent, but it is not a core item. Zilean can only recover health with his ultimate, but if you are building tank Zilean I'm assuming that you want to use your R in someone other than yourself, so Spiriti Visage is useless on you.

Sunfire works on champions that go into close range combat (not necessarily melee). Zilean is not a frontliner, even if you build him tanky. The enemy team would just ignore you since you lack the damage and you won't utilize sunfire to it's fullest potential.

Frozen Heart kinda works because Zilean goes well with CDR and the debuff from FH is useful, especially on a someone that can perma slow the enemy team movement.

I don't see Zilean tank working. You might have a good laugh with it, but he really lacks the damage. If he had more damage on other abilities then it could be done. You are better off going tank Teemo, Lulu or even Janna rather than Zilean.

Zilean is best as a utility mage, like I already said. You can still build "tanky" items if your objetive is to be annoying to the other team, but you still need items that work: item 3110 item 3030 item 3056 item 3512 and maybe item 3083 for the extra annoying factor. You have 30% cooldown with that build and you can get the other 10% either from runes or from item 3158 If you chose runes, you can get a item 3009 , item 3111 or item 3047 ; never item 3020

Your core should be both the item 3030 and item 3110 . Don't expect to be all that useful other than providing utility buffs to your team (movement speed and ultimate) and the Rod+Ohmwrecker combo.

This is not a viable build, because, as I've stated before, Zilean doesn't go well with tank stats. If you need to get MR you can take out Ohwrecker or Warmog and go for Banshee's
