While yes, you lost raw poke damage you gained way too much auto attack damage. If you like poke ez? Cool, do your thing. But your friends told you to build IE because over the course of a fight you're going to do far more damage. Since IE is the only item in the game that increases crit damage it will always be mandatory in the build of every adc and that will never change. Honestly, the whole mechanic of critical hits in league seems like a meaningless and outdated mechanic. But buffing crit damage and only making one item that does it is literally a joke.
