Is Kassadin Good?

Basically the title. How well does he carry games? Does he have strong burst or damage? Will he be buffed anytime soon? Pretty much the basics. Thanks in advanced!

Well he is a melee mage, which already implies a bit of a challenge. In effort to make up for this, he does have some of the one of the highest base ADs in the game.

His passive and Q give him good defense against mages, but do not help much for physical attacks which can be a problem since you will need to get close to deal damage. A little bit of armor will be a good idea.

His W is an auto attack reset and helps with his mana issues. Even still, his low cooldowns and his ultimate (oh his ultimate) will burn through your mana pools no matter how deep they are.

E is great for sticking to your enemy but it's recharge mechanic is , ... awkward.

And his ultimate, you are not really all that relevant until you hit level 6. His mobility is pretty dependent on being able to blink over walls and close/open gaps for both aggressive and defensive plays.

Items, item 3025 Iceborn Gauntlets were pretty much made for Kassadin. Armor, Mana, CDR, Sheen procs on W, he has high BASE AD, and the slow will help you stick to your enemy.

item 3157 is good if you want to be the balls-deep Kassassidin.

item 3110 is more of a top lane/defensive item.

item 3027 Good mix of offense and defensive.

item 3053 is not as common, but working with his base AD once again, taking this with Iceborn is actually fairly strong.

As for your question specifically, .. any champion can be good. The question is, are you good with them. A good Kassadin player can definitely carry, but it may not be as easy to do as other champions. A bad, or even a mediocre Kassadin player can easily feed and cost your team the game. Be aware of your own strengths, be aware of your opponent, be aware of how Kassadin will fit with your team composition. ... Oh yeah, and don't suck, and you should be good.

No, currently he is garbage. More if you consider he is strictly an anti-mage, and this is an AD dominated meta, but even when he gets matches against mages he doesn't do well.

Is Kassadin Good?

In very high Elo: Yes, Kassadin is good. In yoloqueue: nope. Pretty weak.

Kassadin has a pretty long history of being broken at the competitive level, and at one point had a 95% ban rate in ranked, which is pretty much unheard of. There's plenty of solid footage featuring Kassadin doing what Kassadin does best from seasons 3 until his rework.

Kassadin's rework did essentially gut his kit and heavily nerffed Kassadin as a champion, but his mechanics and kit are still quite similar to his pre-nerf state: so watching older footage of Kassawin on display can still be quite helpful.

ATM you'll need to invest a lot of time and effort with Kassadin to really get his kit to work, but with enough skill: he's certainly playable and his kit will become much more powerful in competent hands. He's just in a state right now where you actually need to stalk your prey and strike at the right time like a true assassin over just repeatedly mashing your keyboard and Fizzing in your opponent's face, missing half your skills and still winning trades because reasons.
