Riot... let's talk about Gangplank's nerf

I'm talking about the time between barrels.

There are many things you could have done, you could have completely removed the armor penetration and I wouldn't care.

You could take away some base damage from his E, just an AOE crit is strong enough to keep him relevant.

You could even make the damage scale off the barrel's missing health so that fast combos don't hurt as much. That would be stupid but at least you could still combo them to initiate or something.

**If you wanted to make his combo slower to give it some counterplay, you could decrease the speed of the explosion between barrels. ** That would allow high ping players to actually play this champion properly, and learning him would be easier. Time between explosions is a very important thing when learning gangplank.

If you do that, You should probably reduce the maximum stacks to 3 so that he can't put more barrels to extend his combo indefinitely while barrels explode.

Yet you chose to make him clunkier. You chose to punish me for actually knowing how to play the champion.

This was by far the best rework you've made, yet he doesn't feel smooth anymore, it feels bad as fuck, being punished for doing what I've spent weeks learning.

A little pirate is crying inside of me riot, and it's not sadness, it's disappointment.

To be honnest, the delay on the barrels just makes gangplank ever harder vs range matchups & even harder to hit a barrel in the lategame. I think they nerfed him wrong honnestly.

One change Gangplank needs is to have his barrels cost mana. The mana cost doesn't even need to be that high, however, any cost at all would help quite a bit to lower some of Gangplank's dominance. Hopefully Riot adds a mana cost to his barrels before they go too far into nerfing or changing other things about him so he doesn't end up in a bad spot because they weakened or changed things that were fine. Maybe his barrels could use a tad less armor pen than the 50 percent change they just had because it's still very effective to go Triforce and build like 4 - 5 Infinity Edges. ( Barrels can crit, do damage based on AD, and naturally ignore 50 percent of armor so who needs a last whisper or any armor pen when it's naturally built in?) Stacking infinity Edges works, despite the passive not stacking because of the raw damage it provides + the Crit Chance combo, which do stack and are both what barrels use. The main focus is to add a mana cost to his barrels, and after that a secondary focus should be on maybe lowering his armor pen a bit on his barrels if necessary, if 50 percent is still too much.

Um..... The Armor penetration is much more important than a quarter-second timing between barrels.

Gp feels terrible at the moment, during team fights i can't even shoot my barrels anymore because of this bs nerf. I agree make the time between barrels longer or something but add more delay to a already slow ability? Hell, why do you need to do that AND nerf his armor pen. Do you guys hate GP that much? I feel like im just standing around doing nothing for a while before i'm popping my barrels if the other team doesnt just burst down the barrels the moment it lands....

ATM Gp isn't even that strong so why would you nerf it without give anything back. Give us shorter CD on either passive,q,w,e,r, Give us more damage than. Give us more movement, more frequent ulti cannons. 2 procs on barrels if we parrrrrrley it.. Give barrels an extra hit bar for enemies. more range on q. I don't know give us something so we can stop feeling like we've been cheated out of a champion..

What I don't understand, is on average his win rate is barely 50%, going slightly a above in diamond and plat, yet below in master+ (according to lolking). Yet riot feels it's necessary to nerf him. They just nerf and buff champs every damn patch for the sake of doing so and it's annoying, especially when it's not just a number nerf and something that affects the fluidity of the champion. The pen nerf might have been somewhat necessary because critting somebody for 80% of their hp relatively safely is pretty insane, but again if it was truly broken or overpowered his win rates would(should) reflect that.

Gangplank was a masterpiece. The weird "slow down Gangplank players" doesn't make any sense.

Congratulations guys. You got him nerfed again! Never mention to Rito what they SHOULD have done instead of something terrible. Because they will just do it AS WELL. Frankly he feels pretty clunky nowadays, especially late game. Your Q's projectile speed is so slow that if you place a barrel and Q it straight away. Someone else can attack after you q and pick it off before the projectile lands.

How many other champions do I need to compare him to? Because there are A LOT who can do exactly the same thing and require a drastically lower skill cap.

Leblanc is probably the most obvious, because she can WR into a team and absolutely shred them without the slightest hint of skill, champion mastery or any form of awareness and it has NO COUNTERPLAY as she will just press w or R to go back out of the fight to safety. With cdr this can happen once every few seconds. But then she is featured in the meta constantly, and thus rakes in money...

Like jax, who has no counter play late game, and his early game gets more potent by the day.

Ekko can completely shred ANYTHING in a duel without too much thought and completely on the fly. And can still destroy teams on his own. (Yet he gets to remain perfectly fluid.)

Jayce is another top laner who has similiar damage and simply needs to buy pen because his scaling is so high. Same range. Still fluid. No mana issues and so fourth.

Jhin... Well Jhin's barrels can stack, are invisible, grants a free root to secure the damage and can oneshot teams! Still remains fluid.

What about Kog? Late game he shreds teams by standing still. In lane he's a bastard.

Hell, I've played swain top. People can't do shit about him, and late game you press E on the ADC and Q on the mid laner and kill them both simultaniously.

I could go on but instead I can't be bothered. Because rito doesn't have a habbit of listening to people, hence Azir being nerfed to 41% only a year after he was released, I'm sure Gangplank will follow! Because we all know that Rito don't undo specific nerfs that hit live. And instead continue nerfing.

Hmm are they going to slow down all the spell mash nonsense now in fairness? I for one am tired of eating multiple spells without a chance to interact because they just go off too fast and you are either dead or they are a million miles away. I'm looking at you Katarina, Lee Sin, Zed, LeBlanc, Rengar, etc. Either everyone gets delays, or nobody should. It isn't fair for one champ to do LC$BIGPLAY$ but others get nerfed for it lol.

I think this nerf is to emphasize the counterplay of "destroy GP's barrels before he can" rather than just to slow down the combo. Your proposed nerf doesn't change that.

They did the same thing to Darius Q, before rework it felt smooth and allowed him to compete against mobile champs like Riven with it's instacast.

Instead of doing something logical like nerfing it's damage, or range, they chose to make the spell extremely clunky and easy to avoid. Riot needs to stop butchering kits from champions that don't need it. If you want to mess with some ones kit, start with Thresh or Riven.

I just rejoined LoL, and I'm salty enough over the skin rework to make all of his skins now suck (no refunds), but the barrel just seems janky and a disproportionate investment when his old 3 was a simple teamfight buff. Barrels at least should be possible for an ally to detonate, or for GP to kick or remotely detonate, from the looks of them.

I really wanna know why they slowed down his combo by making HIM have to press buttons slower instead of making THE ABILITIES come out slower.

At least I want to confirm they didn't choose to make him clunky just because.
