Mordekaiser Buff

I am a player who loves to play as Mordekaiser. Sadly, as I'm sure we all know, hes almost nonviable these days because of the huge mobility meta, and only the Brazilians play as him. When Riot gets around to reworking him, what could they do to make him viable again and bring back the HUEHUEHUEHUE?

He might get a cc heavy kit like the new Sion to counter the "mobility meta".

I want them to change very little. Allow Mordekaiser to be a counter to the mobility meta. His abilities and scaling are great, he's just a little dopey.

But, I can suggest things to NOT DO when reworking him

Don't make health costs %'s like Zac's, that would make landing impossible. Don't simplify his abilities, just make them more precise and accurate. Don't change the Tank-Mage theme

I have one idea for a 2nd passive. Heavy Metal Aura: Mordekaiser's weight exerts pressure on the surrounding area, reducing movement speed of champs based on how close they are to him. 2%-12%. Dashes and Jumps have a shorter range when within this aura.

I think they should, instead of giving him extra mobility or CC, make him the "You can't shove me out of lane no matter what" champion. They should buff his shield a little bit, maybe make the decay only 2%, or possibly only decay when out of combat but at a higher rate? His spells are decent enough, and really are just worded a little strangely imo. Q and W can stay basically the same, maybe give E a slight slow that increases based on how close you are to him (at most, something like between 10-20% based on distance from him)? Just a little so that he doesn't need Rylai's 100% of the time. At least one of his spells should have a bit of actual health sustain in it other than his ult so that he doesn't always have to buy spell vamp first thing. His R is a good spell, but it is really confusing and cluttered, especially the way he interacts with his pet stat wise. I think a good way to give him a slight buff would be either make his ult apply grievous wounds, or maybe have it deal increasing damage the lower the target champion gets, just so that it is better at securing kills. Lastly, give him a VU. I doesn't have to be that big, he even kind of works with pizza feet, but he needs something at least comparable to how they updated his pentakill skin, or maybe at the level of Renekton's VU, almost the same, just cleaner and more detailed.

My thought was something along the lines of adding a second effect to his mace. If he casts it again after activating it, he can throw the mace as a wide projectile that slows everyone it hits, and gives Morde a slight speed boost. This will make him nigh impossible to kite. However, the mace will stay where it was thrown, for a whopping fifteen seconds. During this time he has a 10 or 20 point speed boost. At the same time, he can't use his q, even if the cooldown ends, and his physical attack damage is reduced. This will hurt your creep score while the mace is gone and make it very difficult to last hit. At the same time, your q, a not insignificant amount of your damage is gone. He can pick up the mace to regain it instantly. This gives him a way of avoiding kiting and catching up to enemies, while not being very spamable. I do also love the idea of giving him a area slow on his passive. But maybe we could instead put it on his shield with basically the same slow. We'ed also have to increase the range of the slow to be wider then his sheilds damage range. Straight number buffs would also be great.

Change his Q

Now hold on before you downvote hear me out!

Make it a slow/snare

The slow would work like his Q now but also slowing each target by 15% for 1.5 seconds If he hits you alone it snares for 1.5 seconds (or 70% slow)

Boom he now can't be kited as easily.

If you wanted you could overkill it or just do this change to his E

For each target hit gain 10% MS for 2 seconds (only 1% per minion/monster)

His dmg is fine. His passive and theme is unique. He just needs either mobility or cc.

It's been over 3 Years now since his damning nerf, and he's still overlooked for improvement simply because his ult has an opportunity to upset battles...

Just for some perspective...

v1.0.0.125 - 2011-09-14

Iron Man Shield regeneration adjusted to 30% at all levels from 25/27.5/30% Shield regeneration is now half effective versus minions Mace of Spades bonus damage reduced to 65% from 75% Siphon of destruction no longer adds additional shield for each unit hit

My biggest complaint is that they nerfed his shield gen 2 fold, and his early level shield gen hit the dirt, not because they did some anti-buff to his Iron Man passive, but mostly because they totally removed the bonus generation from Siphon of Destruction as well.

The explanation Riot gave about how he'd get more shield gen when hitting champions and less when hitting minions was total BS, they didn't even acknowledge the fact that Siphon was changed in the Patch Video, and the utter ignorance of pretending shield generation vs champions was gonna help or compensate in some way was ludicrous...

Minions don't avoid, Minions don't flee, Minions represent more targets and less threat, but most of all, Minions don't buy more MR. This might not seem like a winning argument, because it isn't, if they wanted to make Mordekaiser less passive and incentivize him to engage champions with more aggressive play, they should have given him the tools to do it. The problem is that they multiplicatively reducing his shield acquisition in virtually all scenarios, he doesn't have enough survivability to face foes and compensate for his lack of utility. If they wanted him to rely on aggression to survive, they should have changed Siphon of Destructions conditional Shield generation to Champions only, so if he hits multiple champions or at least some, he would be able to face opposition. Given that the lane composition consists of mostly minions and the map is mostly filled with NPCs, they should have been real about his passive too, 17.5 percent shield generation, and double on Champions, not the other way around... When you combine that with the obscured loss of shield gen on Siphon, and even a nerf to Mace of Spades just to be jerks, it's ridiculous.

Before that, he received a few buffs preceding his major nerf that were unnecessary, and increased his threat for no reason, the up front damage on his Ult and AP modifier on his Mace of Spades were not needed, and I'd rather they took that back in exchange for his defensive functionality.

There are a dozen ways they can repair this champion, some fear might fit his identity well, and some odd variation of CC immunity or what not would look good on his kit, but he was one of the very few champions with no mobility effects, and no CC, maybe the only champion with none of both, there was a reason he was impossible to bully in lane, because his kit did not permit him any recourse if he couldn't stand his ground. So that needs to be given back, whichever way they choose to do it, Mordekaiser needs to be able to stand in front of up to 3 foes and say, "I'm staying", at least long enough time for him to complete 2 rotations.

The fundamental loss of Siphons shield generation was that he can no longer engage a battlefield and get shield gen not only from a dense opposition, but it didn't matter how little damage he dealt, because he got a flat amount per unit hit, allowing him several defensive item choices.

Riot need to make this right, one way or another, I don't care what the excuse is, they can rearrange his power if necessary, especially since his ult is too convoluted anyway, I'd vote to remove all the complex transfer of power from his ult and put the raw power back into the rest of his kit... He needs to be able to stand in the center of a battlefield, be perhaps the hardest champion in the game to kill, and be able to choose from a mix of offensive and defensive items. I wouldn't be against adding hybrid ratios to more of his skills and some true damage, but we'll see... or maybe wait another 3 years >.>

He is still a pretty strong champ, be it top or mid lane. People don't use him because the words "non-mobile & lack CC" scares the bejesus out of a lot of people.

Making creeping death castable on enemies for minor damage and applying a (AOE?) slow would fix him completely. Maybe even add an MR shred to make it worth maxing in some scenarios and to give it some depth. Just my opinion as a Morde main though ;)

i love morde in the one game i played him 1 v2 ing botlane all day fuck dah police maybe make his q apply to turrets

Phoneixflare10/20/2014, 1:21:16 AM1 votes

all in all if you just change his metal shield thingy and give him a stun or hard slow, he'll be so viable its not funny. thats the only thing holding back his kit really. it doesnt do much damage nor does it give many resists. just a way to produce his shield or w/e
