Can we Supports finally get our Pink Trinket back?

New items/Quests etc. are all good and nice, but we really, really, REALLY want a Pink/Control Ward Trinket! (Also Ruby got the short end of the stick, just saying) How can I use all the new Items, if a Control Ward occupys the slot? It is not that complicated and you even have already everything that you need set up! Remember this? item 3362

  • 1 Stack max
  • 120 sec recharge time
  • equal powerlevel compared to the other current Lvl 9 Trinkets

Everything still checks out! Other possible users: Toplaner and eventually jungler. Mid and Adc will not give up the safety of the Blue Trinket. And if you dont fancy others picking it up: You can only equip Pink/Control Trinket if you have a goldincome item already in your inventory. (And the Trinket gets disabled if you remove said goldincome item)

I would be honored and eternal thankfull (1 patch cycle; thats the best I can promise), and be sure of my deepest gratitude, if you would grant me my dearest wish! I don't think we need pink trinkets back (btw, you lose sweeping lens if its in your trinket slot).

What we need is another item slot for purchased consumables, although I don't know how that would work with pots. Perhaps pots need to be their own item slot like trinkets so there's more freedom to buy wards early one when you're crafting too many items.

Losing the Sweeper (faster recharging, big area clear) for the Pink Trinket(stationary but infinit and clearable vision + vision denial) is called a trade-off. You dont need to do it, but what do you value more? a) Sweeper and Control ward, b) Sweeper and 6(5-4 full Items) c) (slowly recharging) Controlward and 6(5-4) full items. You dont need to choose c over b, but I would do it.

Another "special" itemslot is alot more work then just adding an item back. And there are some more complications to it.

I would like to have a control ward securing a part of the map at all times, and a sweeper available to check objectives for wards. At that point you're just relocating your control ward (assuming they would be control wards instead of pink wards) from point A to point B when instead you could have point A secure, and periodically point B without a cooldown between the two points.

Well there are 5 people total, 2 (mid/adc) will likely go blue (or sweeper for assassins). So you have 3 guys remaining, I would suggest atleast 1 has the Control Ward trinket for permanent vision. The rest is completly up to you and your team. 3 CW Trinkets or 1 CW Trinket and 2 Sweepers etc. Also enemys get gold and exp from killing you CWs, not much but something.

Just make "tier 3 boots" that let your boot slot hold a spare control ward or two for you.

If we dont make extra restrictions like the "only purchase/use -able with a goldincome item" we have 10 controlwards availabe PER TEAM! (the ones that are already placed and the ones in the slot) and that makes 20 Control Wards, Without any tradeoff, possible. And that will completely throw off the vision balance of the game.

So thats a bit tricky.

I have done such a "where could we put a Control Ward" question before. In short the best other place would be the Ruby Sightstone. If you want to read the details and other options/ideas, I recommend you check out this, but be warned its a big wall of text ;D

  1. Each person can still only place 1 control ward. You can hold more than one (3 as of now), but you can't place more than one.
  2. The tradeoff would be not being able to take another boot upgrade.

Yep, Sightstone is the same as before, but when you buy a control-ward and you have a sightstone, it will be placed inside the sightstone (you can only store one control-ward in it, maybe the icon could change to indicate this). You could place the controlward with ctrl-click or something like this

They should just make it like the new Herald buff where the item appears over your Trinket until you use it. So that we can hold a control ward in the Trinket slot and not have to have a Trinket for that. I personally always like having item 3341 as a support.
