What if CotC triggered upon losing some amount of health rather than on CC?

So you get blasted for, say, 25% of your current HP upon entering combat. Shield kicks in.

That would preserve it as a defensive tool, certainly. But it would make it so much less oppressive in trades since you have to actually take damage in order for it to activate.

Thoughts?

Sterak's already does, do we really need a mastery that's better than an item?

And I'll freely admit that Knight's makes Bond feel pretty shitty, but Bond is pretty shitty in general, so there's that.

Because then it's not very interactive. That sounds more like a regular mastery, not a keystone.

Keystones reward you for making moves. Except Windspeaker and Bond which are mainly passive.

I think technically every keystone is just an added passive effect to everything the champion you took it on was taken into game for, autoing, Spell casting, applying CC, none of them are really THAT interactive imo. Except Grasp of the undying, I enjoy the games of managing when to walk up and smack the other guy in the face for extra damage

They're still interactive or at least require you to do something rather than just be effected by something.

And should we really make the "tank" keystones passive effects when people already consider tanks to be the easiest class in the game? They should get something interactive.

I think the problem with the keystones is that in trying to make each one feel unique and impactful, you're going to run into metas where one is just objectively better, see the Thunderlords Meta. You're even seeing Courage of the colossus on juggernauts like Darius even though Grasp is what they should be using, just because they can proc courage with that one hard CC pull. I guess I just feel like Grasp and Courage are just too closely related in terms of niche to be filled. They both heavily appeal to champions that are tanky, have a lot of CC, are tanky with a lot of CC, or tanky with very little CC. The only problem is that courage's effects are felt immediately and has more noticeable moments of power than Grasp does, which takes a long while to actually add up

Disagree. Your threshold is way too large. No tank or bruiser will take 25% of their HP right as they enter combat.

Instead, it could be a shield that activates after the user has been reduced beyond 75% hp. But then it would be barely worth it, and everyone would go back to using Grasp, Fervor, or Thunderlords for the laning power.

Those 4 champs would be really dumb to spend their combos on a tank in a teamfight, though. The Assassin, Skirmisher, or Diver proceeds to leap to the backline and shred the enemies who have no CDs left.
