Brutalizer is a great item and needs a non-crit upgrade path.... This is more of a sidegrade than anything. Themeatically YOU CAN'T CLEAVE WITH A HAMMER

For those who dont look at surrender@20 The Black Cleaver Phage + Kindlegem + 825 gold (3000 gold total) +400 Health +40 Attack Damage +20% Cooldown Reduction UNIQUE Passive: Dealing physical damage to an enemy champion Cleaves them, reducing their Armor by 5% for 6 seconds (stacks up to 6 times, up to 30%). UNIQUE Passive - Rage: Dealing physical damage grants 20 movement speed for 2 seconds. Assists on Cleaved enemy champions or kills on any unit grant 80 movement speed for 4 seconds instead. This movement speed is halved for ranged champions.

Heck this passive/build order could be Frost Mallet. Frost mallet sucks right now and this seems really good. Black Cleaver could just build from the new hp+regen item and an additional sword and be fine.

Frozen Mallet is a great late game item. It just has a crappy build path.

putting phage into it's buildpath with this passive would make it better.

And it's only 'great' incredibly situationally

Frozen Mallet used to build out of Phage, and Phage had the passive that Frozen Mallet has.

They reworked Phage and took it out of Frozen Mallet, because the two passives on the same item would be too strong.

Frozen Mallet is great on champions like Gnar, who enjoy the increased health and can also apply the slow from a distance. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's a core item on Gnar in most probuilds.

Again, what makes it weak is it's lack of a good build path. If you build Ravenous Hydra, you enjoy the power spike from Tiamat. If you build Triforce, you enjoy the spike from Sheen. Mallet has no such spike, which makes it hard to build.

The new BC is way better.

The old one had what? 15 Armor penetration? 15 extra AD? That's it.

You get so much more value with the new BC. Not to mention that it does the job better with 5% extra armor penetration at max stats and HOLY SHIT SO MUCH CDR, HEALTH AND EVEN THE MOVESPEED PASSIVE.
