Something that will never happen but would fix alot

You know there are a lot of fundamental balance issues in league that are hard to fix, but could be dealt with pretty handily with one radical change

If summoner Rift was 4v4.

If summoners rift was 4v4 we could balance supports and adc’s from a solo plAyer perspective

If it was 4v4 we wouldn’t have to have this 40% of the team vs 1 out of 4 “zones/areas of responsibility” power debate.

If it was 4v4 current damage levels would be much more reasonable.

If it was 4v4 each player would have more agency, but there would still be enough players to generate a similar experience to 5v5

If it was 4v4 towers and buffs might feel stronger again

If it was 4v4 chain cc wouldn’t be as much of a problem.

Now bearing in mind some classes of champions, and items would need to be rebalanced, for example duelists like Jax and Fiora, I feel like the game would be a lot healthier if played by 8 players.

Thoughts?

I mean wouldn't it be easier if it 1v1? LMAO

If it was 1v1, easy win

if it was 1v1, wouldn't have to worry about vision or ganks

if it was 1v1, wouldn't need to try if that other person afk

if it was 1v1, support champ would be remove

if it was 1v1,

if it was 1v1,

if it was 1v1,

if it was 1v1,

Well, fun fact. Summoner's Rift was originally 4v4 when the closed beta started. Riot changed it to 5v5 because everyone was asking for 5v5. By everyone I mean 50 of us who were DotA players... so maybe it was a mistake. Who knows?

But also keep in mind that it has been 5v5 for 9 years now so I think it's way too late to go back to 4v4.

While I know and understand full what you're suggesting, and how much simpler it would be to balance the game if it were 4v4...

League of Legends gets its humble beginnings from DotA from the WC3:FT RoC*, and was specifically designed by its creator to be a 5 versus 5 game.

Many many other people took great care in replicating this RoC to be 4v4 with every new RoC that was built, but guess what?

The one that caught on was Ice Frog's original. It was so well made, and had elements of assymetrical gaming in it that provided a more enjoyable experience than the 4v4 versions of it.

So there you have that. I think you can see that 5v5 League of Legends has done very well sitting atop the as the King of MOBAs, and the dev team who gets paid handsomely to design game modes probably have a lot of talk with various teams including Balance among other important teams (aren't they all though?). We can probably assume that they have reached the same conclusion, friend. It probably should happen, but in the end, I just think it will further divide the community among game modes the way Dominion and ARAM and Non-ranked Summoner's Rift games have.

Think of it as a basketball game. Think of how much the game changes when one of the roles are missing from the court. It is very similar in concept. NBA Jam was fun and all, but the real sense of victory was on NBA Live. [sg-ahri-1] [darius-angry]

If it was 4v4 you might not have a jungler to shut down that snowballing riven/darius/camille/yasuo/zed/talon/leblanc/fizz/caitlyn/vayne/kayn/yi

If it was 4v4 you would have to leave objectives uncontested because the enemy malphite/orianna/veigar combo can blow your team to pieces

If it was 4v4 you’d have to give up the support slot to have a jungler, which means your bot laner might have to play 1v2 for 20 minutes, your team might have no wards or peel, or the enemy team might have absolute objective control as well as frequent 2v1/3v2 ability the entire match

If it was 4v4 playable champions would be extremely limited as your team would require specific roles filled (heavy crowd control, strong wave clear, defensive tank, high damage dealer) which again means a match could be decided entirely in champ select by stubborn teammates

If it was 4v4 you might never be able to push and end because the enemy anivia is endlessly killing your minion waves and you cant reach her because you have no initiator/catcher in your comp

Should i go on?

Ok sure but why5/4/2018, 8:22:03 PM2 votes

1v7 sounds much easier than 1v9

So like..... what would the roles be then?

That would fix that problem but we can only theoryze about which new problems would appear.

That's why I voted dunno.
