The tank "meta" dilemma

So the past few days ive noticed a slow encroachment of idividuals believing that we are in a newfangled tank meta.

While they arent wrong, they arent entirely right either.

Like most complaints, this stems from high level play, and theres basically one reason tanks are strong right now, stoneplate+locket.

While stoneplate by itself may be strong or even slightly overpowered, by itself its not really an issue(besides on chogath). The problem lies on how it interacts with locket, and ultimately who it benefits.

The ADC, are tanks strong now? Yes, but only by proxy, is locket+stoneplate strong right now? Yes, but the whole reason it is, is its helping an already over the top adc role, especially with the new(imo mostly justified, but maybe overboard) support items.

Tanks have barely any selfish power right now, and we hate the stoneplate/locket as much as everybody else, cause it feels shitty using it, it takes no skill, and cedes your power to someone else.

So riot, if you are going to nerf tanks, nerf stoneplate and locket, and please for the love of god buff the other tank items.

Also could we maybe get more tank items with more unique and flavorful effects? Spirit visage/abyssal +Rand/dmp and boots every game is kinda boring.

If you check the playrate of the different champions, you will find few tanks at all.

Well, prettymuch that, but there's something more to it in high elos. Mao is somewhat briken because of his early sapling brush-damage, whcih allows for absurd first clears, either as pull for his jungler or for him self, and his cc, especially the point n click W, allow for powerfull ganks. Seju is similar, her early damage+cc is pretty high, her clears are quite good, so a again powerfull early ganks and snowballing from the jungle. Gragas always was a strong pro pick, Gallio always was busted post rework, and cho is just overtuned as fuck atm, and Zac is pure buzllshit ever since the rework.

So it's not only locket+stoneplate, some tanks just became broken(atleast for high elo) with their rework or got to much early power for the jungle. Seju and maoe more or less do the same that reksai or elise do as junglers, fast and rather sustained clears with heavy gank potential and in case of seju even strong dueling but weak teamfights.

The big issue is that most of them feel not great to use, tankiness still feels like a myth later in the game, exept maybe for the 4sec stpneplate active, though i witnessed tabks popping 100-0 duering the active aswell come to lategame. Baseline is that many tanks now have a strong early, and with the early-mid spikeing tank items and their cc, thise means high snowball potential. Anf since the game is all about early and snowballing for quite a while now, this means tanks are strong right now in high elo. However, many tank players do want tanks as reluiable ans strong teamfighters with good mid-late, like old seju, and not early-snowballing cc-bots like new seju, so playing tanks is effective, but not statisfying.

Tank meta died almost 2 years ago now, and I'm pretty much certain that everyone noticed that we are definitely in a BURST meta right now. Any damage champs that are good this year has some huge definite burst in some way, there's no way we are denying that. Why tanks are OP right now isn't because it's their meta back at it again, it's simply because they are the only ones who can SURVIVE that burst item 3193 item 3194 while doing some burst themselves item 3748 item 3053 , simple as that

I think stoneplate's concept is good and its passive is interesting and cool, but its active may have been a bad idea, particularly in its interaction with some other spells and effects.

Maybe they should change it to "Reduce all physical and magic damage dealt and received by X%", which would add durability (in a way that might not be too strong in a 1v1) without screwing with HP ratios.

Or just remove the active and retune the cost/stats/passive, not everything needs to have an active.

Its not true... Both are mid-late game items. Most of game are short and onesided. Riot buffed the shit out them directly and indirectly with item 1409 item 3076 ...
