Why don't Supports and ADCs switch summoners?

considering how supports tend to be ability based and have a huge range, but exhaust has 650, lower than most abilities but higher than nearly all auto attack ranges.

Heal gives supports a lot more power when roaming while ADCs who have a trigger happy finger on the flash button can instead use it on their exhaust button as assassins are a lot less powerful when they lose 40% damage unless they wait out the entire thing (trust me, it's not really burst but slowly-deflating instead if they delay their combo for so long) while heal's amount isn't very much later on when assassins start focusing the ADC when they meet in team fights (though 40% will always scale with the enemy's power). Also, ADCs get lifesteal but phantom dancer, IBG and frozen mallet are among the only items to copy Exhaust's effects.

I'd rather not have the supports sniping my kills with summoner 14

I prefer having heal. I don't think exhaust can be used offensively unless you've got both ADC+Supp together. You're not going to be able to do enough damage to kill anyone by yourself before Exhaust wears off (until late game), so it'd only be optimal to use it defensively. Whereas heal can be used in pretty much any situation.

When I'm playing by myself as ADC, I orefer having the heal, as I can chose whether or not I need it, or when.

When I'm with a friend, I will more often go ignite

I'd say because Heal offers a more reliable way to escape certain solo situations. Say you just killed the enemy but minions are about to kill you, having Exhaust is no help here but heal will save you. Also Exhaust is more effective against some enemies and less so against others, Heal is just a flat heal and some MS, so regardless of who you are against it is reliable. Exhaust can only effect one person, a second or third person can still kill you but Heal gives you Hp and MS allowing you to possible outrun all enemies. ADC's tend to leave their engage up to the Support, they wait for some CC so they can feel safe going in. The Support will know when they are going in better than the ADC and Exhaust is more useful for setting it up than Heal is. Plus the ADC tends to stand back, which is normally out of Exhaust range (at least for engaging), but Heal can still effect both the ADC and Support.

I suppose they could switch, but the ADC would be slightly more defenseless in most cases without Heal.

Well, from my experience with most engage supports, the CC wears off by the time the ADC gets into auto attacking range.

But most of the other points, I can't really argue as I'm an Ashe + TP player and don't use either (but still, I can do trades as well as the enemy with heal), I'd say heal's speed buff is overkill and the heal is a safe choice later on, but Exhaust's power lets them 1v1 even bursty champions.

The CC is just to safely get them into AA range most of the time, if they shoot first, most of the time they have the advantage. Im not sure which Supports you are referring to though, most of them have decent CC that allows for at least 2 AA's (depending on AS) unless of course the ADC is really far back, like out of experience range.

I don't think Heal's MS is overkill, the health itself isnt all that substantial, its maybe 1 and a half AA's. It can be used to kite and chase while keeping a health advantage. Specially on champions like Cait and Jinx who can out range their opponent, it allows them to get out of their opponents range and then possibly turn.

Also keep in mind that heal affects 2 people, the user and the target (or next closest person since I doubt most people aim their heal). Heal on adc guarantees that adc will be one of those people, and the adc is usually the MVP (in terms of dps) so this is quite key. In late game teamfights, it can benefit both the adc and another important player (e.g. a fed mid laner or jg), while the support is often the least important player to keep alive in teamfights (I say this as a support main), and hence heal on support guarantees half of the heals effect is 'wasted'.

Heal is a relatively small health boost, but that small health boost on demand on a key target is quite valuable, as often times players will dive a low health adc hoping to instaburst them, but get foiled by the heal and end up giving up a kill.

I'm also not entirely convinced about the claim heal gives supports more power when roaming. If you roam to another lane, exhaust or ignite can actively limit someones ability to escape and proactively help that lane get a kill. If instead you roam with heal, it might help save another laner if you happen to get there just as they're dove, but more often then not it won't offer any kill potential.

The funny thung is windspeakers blessing should have brought about that change, allowing for more offensive adc summoners to possibly occur, but I guess supports seem to be drifting into this tank role I have to say :/ support mages are in weird spots, but tank supports are being churned out just fine and well. Where tank mastery is better than winspeakers seeing as very few tanks pack heals, is fairly useless and one possible reason why.

Exhaust is good on split push champions like Tristana. Vayne or Twitch

ADCs get heal for their lack of reliable self-peel. It's pretty much the same reason some mages go heal/barrier midlane. Whereas supports don't really need that extra heal because most of them can peel for themselves; which is why they take things like ignite or exhaust, depending on their playstyles.

Don't forget lower-range backline supports exist, such as Lulu, Nami, and Sona. Exhaust range = their spellcasting range anyways. ######If you are thinking Lulu is long-ranged simply because she can EQ poke... then I have bad news.

You put heal on the AD carry because it guarantees that they'll get the effect when the spell is used, and because it gives them a form of increased escape. Putting heal on the support would give a good chance of the heal affecting someone other than the ADC, and it would lower the carry's ability to escape from danger when farming alone. Supports also take exhaust or ignite because they provide way, way more power when roaming. Heal will convert fewer kills from ganks than an offensive spell will.
