About the new Ranked tiers for Season 9

For those of you who don't know, Riot will be adding two new Ranked tiers in Season 9. The new Ranked tier below Bronze will be called "Iron", and the new Ranked tier between Master and Challenger will be called "Grandmaster".

Now of course, those both sound really cool, but there's somthing bugging me about this. I think Riot completely missed a great opportunity. Instead of "Iron", they should have called it "Wood" tier in honor of the meme.

Aside from that though, I'm really excited to see how Ranked is gonna be in Season 9. I'm especially excited to see which of my Bronze friends are gonna be demoted to Iron (at least two of them probably), and whether I can make it to at least Grandmaster next season (doubtful). What about you guys?

Iron should be higher than bronze tho. That's what Runescape taught me.

Iron is going to be empty since every new player gets default placed into Gold or Silver. Regardless of their placement record and empty history.

Idk why but if some1 would tell me 'Im iron 4' I would lose my shit and laugh like an idiot. Not cuz of rank but because for some reason it sounds fucking funny to me xD

they should add a little bit more rust and a couple of shit stains to iron 4, to really reflect their players skill level.

I would really like that borders would be updated accordingly to ranked live.. and not at season end.. If I e.g: Manage to get into platinum during my ranked play i should get instant update on border accordingly to what devision i am in also.

I was expecting the Wood Rank, but for some reason we got Iron Rank, it sounds and looks so cool, just think Iron Rank, Iron Man

I really would love to see the new algorithm for assigning new ranks.

On my main I'm G1

Have 2 smurf: 8 of 8 games won placed into Gold IV.

6 of 8 games won placed into Iron II.

Does it mean to get into silver you would need to win 7 of 8 games?

not to be off-topic - wood would be nicer

This new system is FUCKING HORRIBLE! I ended Silver 2 last season, and after my first ranked game I get bronze 3, BRONZE 3!!!!! And now when im bronze 1 I only get 35lp after every game, SO IT´S IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO START EVEN AT SILVER 5, since i only got ONE game left!!!! What is up with that?!?! Such idiocy at a advanced level.

I have NEVER been placed so low, except for the first time I played league and my first season on it. RAGING MAD HERE, ONLY ME?

I am plat 3 right now and I climbed to diamond on preseason. Now I only get 12-14 lp with a win and loss 17-22 lp with a lose. Why?

I have not played lol for a long time. Once I had saw that I have promoted to iron3, I was sparkled to think that thanks to God finally I escaped from bronze players and never gonna come back! Then I realized it is worse than bronze ^^ Sad truth awaken...

My issue is that I don't really understand the thought process of putting a tier above Master. The two truly problematic divisions are Bronze and Diamond and with Bronze, they're at least adding a rank below it to break up some of the issues with it(such as many players in B5 and 4 actually probably being a little worse than just regular bronze players and causing the entire division to be muddy). But I don't feel like the addition of Grand Master will do much to allieviate the pain point that is the entirety of Diamond. Diamond probably has one of the biggest skill gaps between D5 and D1. I don't understand how adding something above Master will actually solve this problem.
