Before you downvote, I want to say a few things before you downvote.

People sometimes make threads saying, "Riven should have a resource", etc. Or... "Riven needs nerfs."

Look, alright, Riven is a pain in the ass to deal with. I agree with that. But the changes you guys are suggesting, are absolutely terrible. You have no idea how Riven works.

AND BEFORE YOU SAY, "I DO.", or get triggered, there are a few things you need to know when you say Riven needs a resource.

This would completely BREAK Riven's kit as a whole if she had mana or energy. Why? If you were to give her a resource, the compensation Riot would have to give would be INSANE.
If you wanted to give her mana, that would make her entire build USELESS, as she now needs to build mana items due to how much she spams abilities. And, the compensation for that would be INSANE.

So, note, if you ever make a thread about, "Riven needs a resource", you're an idiot. I'm saying it straight up, you have no idea how Riven works at all.

Riven needs nerfs. Possibly. idk

A correct thread on Riven would be like this

Riven needs to be less annoying to verse

I feel that Riven feels like a pain to verse because it doesn't matter how well you outplay her, her abilities come up extremely quickly, and it's almost impossible to outrun her.

I think that Riven should have her abilities be on higher cooldown overall, but make her R apply a mark that will let you deal extra damage to the target while the mark is on.

(THIS IDEA ISN'T ACCURATE IT'S JUST AN EXAMPLE.)

Because if you like it or not, Riven isn't the "OP OP" you may think she is. She's definitely a pain in the ass to deal with, for sure. But you giving her resources to her would make her broken as hell. Why? It'd be impossible to balance, and Riot would make her deal shit loads of damage, on a low CD.

It would feel like versing Zed more then a Fiora, you feel me?

listen, dude. this is the boards where pretty much no one knows how to balance a champion and what will break them and what won't. and also you'll be demonized if you actively play someone like Yasuo Riven Vladimir Vayne Zed .

just don't worry about them. riven is balanced as she is.

Breaking kits is the community's specialty. Can't deal with a champ? Post a thread that resembles a nerf and people will come flocking in with upvotes.

i honestly dont think riven needs a nerf. her ulti buff was what she truly needed to be playable right now.

nothings changed. shes been the same as the black cleaver price reduction..

shes still easy to counter and gank. shes still easy to build against and cc. shes still easy to outplay and predict.

i cant say that for half the other top lane champs in the meta right now.

Yes. Riven is a champion that relies on spamming his skills to survive and deal damage. Giving her a resource bar would mean she would need massive number buffs or the costs would have to be nonexistent. Agreed and upvoted.

You seem to misunderstand what the goal of giving a champion mana would be and the way how mana in general works. Giving Riven mana wouldn't force her to build mana, just like the vast majority of champions who have mana don't. It would force her to manage mana, something the majority of champs in the game already do.

i know for a fact riven is not op. animation cancelling is a tumor in this game. it is what prevent people from just picking up riven and playing her. and its what prevents riven from having actually good numbers. her numbers are garbage and thats what makes her fall off late game. animation cancelling doesnt mean shit if you die before you can start the combo.

if they fixed animation canceling. smoothed out her animation casts speeds and times. maybe increased them abit. THEN we could start actual work on riven. until then though riot needs to get there heads together on how they feel about animation cancelling. because you got Zed losing a animation cancel that was supposed to be a sign of "skilled" zed players. where you could throw a shuriken at the same time as a shadow. but apparently thats op.

but riven vomiting out her entire load on you in the span of her stun and knock up isnt op when her animations are supposed to take a certain period of time to actually perform before the next one can be used

animation cancelling by definition is the act of breaking the game.

fix animation cancelling and actual balance can be brought to riven.

All the guys complaining about Riven now should of seen her at release haha.....shield lastest x2 longer CD on ult far lower and her Q had full ratios at rank 1. Fun times

I agree. She spams way too much to have to be gated by resources. Kinda like Garen , Tryndamere or Renekton .

Agreed. Riven's issues have absolutely nothing to do with her power level. It's always been because she's an absolute heck of an obnoxious monkey to play against. She doesn't function unless she's playing in a way that makes everyone involved wish for her downfall.

Riven takes a lot of skill and know how to play. I think all that needs to be adressed is the things that make her gameplay patterns frustrating, but... how do you separate frustrating gameplay patterns from Riven? It's practically her identity

Imagine all her Q's power in one cast...that's a knock up with 3 charges (And the knock up would have the power of all 3 hits). Also Riot would do what they do with ANY resource that isn't mana, the ult costs nothing. Just like Zed Akali Shen

I just hate how her shield can completely invalidate a lot of the dmg I try to do in the top lane. I like my tanky poke tops. If she has a skill that completely denies my ability to apply any pressure in lane at the push of a button it makes for a very unfun lane and goes into the realm of countering someone too hard.

People hate Pantheons aegis for the same reason.

How about after she used valor 2 or 3 times she would get her shield increased by a x amount but the cooldown increased as well? Sounds like a fair trade to reducing her mobility but not making her underpowered.
