I think Dorans Blade seems a tiny bit overvalued
What if Dorans Blade was made slightly and I mean very slightly better at the very slight expense of ranged auto attackers in lane.
I always felt like the item hasn't been a great start in ages. Only ranged attackers easily get by on it but they always want to slither their way unto other stuff. So a power redistribution would make them want it more. It would help at balancing laning between different types too.
It just seems obvious to me DBlade is a somewhat weaker item that works even less well on less equipped to lane classes.
DBlade paled in comparison to the other Doran's items ring and shield before their nerfs. All they did to ring though is nerf stacking rings. And shield was straight up broken but is still pretty decent.
Another reason I dislike DBlade is you have to start with a red potion. I consider red potions a waste of gold. And I've always felt it is better to get the green refill potion as soon as possible. This is another reason relic shield + refill potion was proving far too effective. The potion system could use another revamp as well as the dorans items. That should be a whole thing I guess. Maybe red potions should cost 40g instead which sounds fine if time to kill in lane doesn't get super ridiculous again like in the " doran's shield meta."
Back on the Doran's Blade. You could knock this thread saying this may reduce the number of actual options we have atm between longsword + refill, relic+refill, doran's ect. You could also say that the combination of health and offense a DBlade provides is actually not that fun if buffed. But atm I don't see it as too much of a threat as this items hardly used like that atm. I'm saying a little tweak could go a long way. This is also mainly me presenting how I feel about the early game items and how they affect class balance.
A possible tweak other than a stat increase is a gold cost change to 420 assuming 40g potions ofc. All the dorans items should cost this much. This may be an improvement while cutting down Ryan Choi rengar a little bit if it's actually some kind of problem (old meme)
