Bi weekly reminder that Malzahar has been left as a total shit show for a year now

Where he does nothing but press R for the jungle because his damage is nonexistent. Ignite alone does more than his entire rotation. It's great because old Malz was never an ult bot. But in comes repetoir, adc extraordinaire, telling everyone how he needs a rework because counterplay because ult bot. And now look at him. Look at him meddler. Look at your complete failure as a lead dev given form. Get a good whiff cause it's disgusting.

I love how repetoir can have the nerve to come out and say they're not touching him because he has "counterplay" issues.

Mean the fuck while Zoe Talon MonkeyKing Talon Zed Talon MonkeyKing item 3147 Leblanc Fizz MonkeyKing summoner 14 summoner 14 summoner 14

Lets not even get into how Kaisa literally can't be killed by any mage in the game. Or how Ornn is literally just a stat check.

Get the fuck out of here, everything in this meta has no counterplay. You like how comet is basically dead. Everyones just using electrocute, aery, grasp and meddler's fervor. Literally all of them just raw damage stat checks. Where's the counterplay repetoir. Where's the decision making meddler.

Look at all this salt. I don't have enough fries for this >.< Meanwhile I've actually been enjoying playing Malzahar ever since the infamous Mage Update. [slayer-jinx-catface]

Malz really...does not feel that weak, while he does take a while to ramp up, his dmg is actually pretty insane, maybe your just not using him right?

You do not gain support for something by obviously exaggerating shit.

Stop making the OG Malz mains look bad.

I like a lot about his new design, but I really miss his old voidlings that felt like legitimate threats and scaled with AD. It was a cool idea to let him have a swarm of voidlings, but when that didn't work out and kept getting scaled back I think they should have gone back to the old voidling design.

Ok I'm gunna dissect a few comments here and give a little of my two cents.

Starting with the OP.

Yes Malzahar has been less "himself" since the voidling changes last year. This part I agree with and is definitely the core problem with him.

Is he an ULT bot? Yes, sort of at the moment. Malzahar SCALES, and at the moment there isn't much advantage to that as games don't last that long, and chances are someone has already snowballed out of control before he comes online.

Malzahar's kit does have COUNTERPLAY issues. He does have COUNTERS, but that's a different thing entirely. Take it from EVERY MALZ MAIN EVER! His point and click suppress ult has been an issue for YEARS, and needs to change. Would a revert be good for the game in the short term? Yeah, probably. Does this mean he doesn't need a more serious change? No. I'm a strong believer Malz should be reverted, but only until Riot have the time to rework him.

The core of malzahar is a mage that uses DoT's and Pets to deal damage while his CC holds them down. This lends itself naturally to counter those champions that are fast moving and and squishy (like assassins). It is naturally oppressive, which some of us (myself included) loves! But there has to be counterplay, and at the moment there isn't much thanks to his ult, so everything else in his kit has had to suffer. There are solutions, and I'd suggest you consider thinking of some and write a post on that instead of shouting aimlessly at riot.

Here's a thread I made several months ago (https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/WAAgqGQE-suggestion-for-malzahar-rework). Consider the possibilities beyond "Revert now so I can play it". I'm not saying the rework was perfect, but you can see a TONNE of malz mains AND others giving unput to help create a far more balanced version of Malzahar. There are MANY other options, and I will be releasing an updated suggestion thread later this week that I've been working on. I hope to see some constructive thought from you then :)

@Timethief - Yes he is, but he's being used as a support midlaner like Karma, not the control/damage mage he is meant to be. You'll see him waveclear for ages then walk along, flash + ult someone and his team will kill them, then go back to wave clearing. That's not what he is meant to be...

@Xavanic - As above, he scales. The issue he faces is until he has scaled, he is sadly a waveclear ult bot. This makes his laning phase bad rather then oppressive as it is meant to be. He is meant to counter hypermobile hypercarries like Yasuo, Zed, Irelia etc, but currently cannot.

Final thoughts for those that bothered reading this far. While the OP lacks clarity, content and is basically a rage, he did have one statement that was pretty accurate and was probably the reason people clicked on the thread in the first place: "Malzahar has been left as a total shit show for a year now."

I’m not silver 2, then give me an actual answer :)

his damage is nonexistent. Ignite alone does more than his entire rotation.

Your exaggeration was shit.

You cannot fight this new Malzahar's design unless you actually acknowledge the fact that he has an ability that can be reset twice in one rotation which means he does in fact do damage.

His damage may be completely dependent on how long he is ignored in a team fight.

But it is damage. And definitely more than ignite.

The biggest issue with New Malz vs Old Malz is the amount of freedom, adaptability, and identity he lost for a reset and a shield.

Ornn's in a very gutted state after his nerfs and is basically an auto-loss; he needs all his nerfs reverted and his Unstoppable returned.

Maybe instead of throwing salt and flame at them, maybe get the Malzahar playerbase as a whole together, and make a list of what they should do to fix him. Doing what you are doing now will get you and others who support malz needing help in a rough spot in terms of asking and suggesting buffs. But dont suggest anything that should make him idk, godlike and oppressive? I currently see mixed results from Malz players.
