Some Thoughts on Mordekaiser (And some impressions of what I think he should be)

First off I just want to start with saying I love the King of Clubs Mordekaiser skin, the splash art made it an insta-buy for me, in-game is a bonus.

Now I would like to talk about Mordekaiser identity and how some of his skills should be changed around to better what he should be good at while still giving him clear disadvantages Morde is supposed to be an in your face off-tank that is annoying if ignored and has a lot of survivability when focused. Laning phase hes very push-heavy, at the cost of his health and trades with his shield. Morde doesn't need a full rework, just updates to a pretty old kit and a passive that truly synergizes with his push and harass gameplay.

My suggestion for Morde is to get rid of W and make it a new skill; Afterwards his passive should be changed into a two part passive that is reminiscent of his current W.

Shards of Vice (Passive 1): Mordekaiser now leaves shards of his armor and weapon on enemy champions with any damaging ability for 3-5 seconds giving him X amount of movement speed while moving towards enemy champions marked with shards for the duration and can be refreshed by hitting them again. Iron Man (Passive 2): Mordekaiser skills cost health. Mordekaiser has a bar that is filled by X percentage when hitting enemy champions (40% fill rate against minions and monsters). Once the bar is full Mordekaiser becomes surrounded by all the metal he has left on the battlefield as they attempt to repair him, giving him X armor, magic resist and a set amount of health regen scaling with his max health. This repair lasts 6 seconds. Mordekaiser cannot build up his bar for 8-10 seconds after its duration is over. The bar will start to decay after 3 seconds.

Mordekaiser having W effects on his passive works much better in my opinion and gives him far more reliability. Build up your bar before a teamfight or skirmish and come in with health regen and bonus armor and mr that will make you hard to kill while getting movement speed through his first passive to zip to their backline and annoy their carries. In laning phase he will play very much the same, only now having a reliable source of healing in-between or after trades and makes rushing a spell vamp item not necessary, allowing morde to go for more tank stats first like spirit visage. He will still have an exploitable weakness, not letting him hit you or minions, making him waste his hp and never filling up his bar for the hp regen. Since he will be pushing so much without any instant dashes or gapclosers, it would still be hard for him to get away from coordinated ganks.

For his new W, I was thinking something along the lines of this; Creeping Death (W): Mordekaiser releases heavy shards of metal that creep along the ground and stun any enemies hit for a brief amount of time and stopping after hitting a certain amount of enemies.

What I was thinking for this skill was a brief, but hard CC that could hit multiple people after scaling with levels; Example level 1; passes through one enemy, level 3; passes through 2 enemies, level 5; passes through 3 enemies. With the stun lasting between 0.5 and 0.75 seconds and doing a moderate amount of damage, having about 750 range and having a projectile speed similar to Zyra's Grasping Roots.

P.S All numbers are tentative, they are just there as placeholders, instead take this as it is, a changing to two of Mordekaisers weaker points, while still giving him certain strengths and clear weaknesses.

Well Mord shield at lvl 18 is not that bad, the main problem i have with mordakaiser is that if i dont 100 to 0 someone they will run away from me, because mord has no CC. and another thing the shield is only good if he is fighting a 1v2. on a 1v1 situation the shield doesn't recover that much. The shield is helpful in lane, but early game mord has no way of recovering health back when he uses his skills . The armor and movement sppd on his W is alright but still doesn't help mord keep up with someone running away from him.U can always buy an item to help, but then again do you really want to make a champion dependent on one item? if so the champion has no diversity in build paths. I rather have a cc or slow on his w.

Dude, you just ruined Mordekaiser. How are you going to destroy his passive like that? Changing his 2 weaker points? I assure you, his W is very damn good as is. Its like a built in sunfire cape that is almost permanently up with max CDR. His passive in easily the best if not one of the best in the whole god damn game.

You understand that at level 18 that shield works as a 2nd health pool that gives you a max of 630 health right?

Right now if Mord charges into a fight, he should have his shield up already, thus resulting in him having 630 extra health. Over the course of the fight, you will build up thousands of hit points worth of shielding that no amount of armor or mr will be able to make up for. His passive also is what makes him so damn powerful during the laning phase. Why the hell would you try to ruin him let alone attempt to rework a champion you do not have a single fucking clue about?

If/When he does get a rework he will keep his passive and his ultimate. Anything that changes either of those 2 is a waste of time and we may as well change his name while we are at it.

EDIT: Sorry for coming off like an ass. I am just tired of all these threads suggesting that a champion that I have mained since he was released in 2010 needs to be reworked when he is sitting at just above 50% win rate.

I really wish Riot would just give Mordekaiser +10 to base movement speed already. (By far the biggest quality of life improvement in my humble opinion.)
