Friend climbed to platinum after making new account to escape bronze. Elo hell?

Hey guys I never believed in all the people saying Elo hell exists. I always just told my bronze friend to get good and climb but he said it's too hard. I told him if he's so good level a new account and prove you aren't bronze then. He leveled a new account over a few months and typical of new accounts it got placed into silver 5. He was so excited not to be in bronze so he started to play more ranked. Lo and behold, he began to climb pretty fast. Somehow he managed to climb using sona despite seeing a lot of yasuos everywhere and zeds. I thought he'd just be able to climb a little but infact he didn't. He made it all the way to platinum 2. Looking back he says he didn't really improve at all. He says bronze was just elo hell and even now he couldn't escape.

Now idk if elo hell is real or not and I'm pretty sceptical still but this was strange to see. I'm not gonna blame my teammates or whatever because I didn't think it existed in the first place but this is a shock to me. I can't show his account because it's naming and shaming technically but what do you think?

I almost don't believe that story. I've been in Silver and it's a billion times worse than Bronze. Bronze players are mostly complete morons and you can take advantage of that and climb fairly easy. But Silver.....that's the real elo hell. Silver players have the same massive egos, twice the toxicity, and four times the skill. Bronze is nothing, I'm more amazed he climbed through Silver.

elo hell does exist, just not in the form people think

To escape bronze you must be good at bronze but this will not help you in silver all that much

To escape silver you must be good at silver but this will not help you in gold all that much

and so on and so forth.

I was stuck in bronze 5 with a below bronze 5 MMR (going 16-1 and better while still losing). Made new account. Now Diamond.

This game gives me diabetes sometimes with their shitty mm

For those that main support elo hell absolutely is real.

Its called elo hell for a few reasons.

  1. New players who just reached level 30 will more often than not go straight to ranked once its available. If youre in bronze, chances are you will see said new player on your team. Said new player is new and doesnt understand all the characters mechanics or really much of the game. You have a really high chance of losing with thatn ew player on your team.

1a) the same can be said for the opposing team.

  1. Smurfs on your team or the enemy team.

  2. You suck, your teammates despite not being new play casually - few games a week or a month even and thus they suck.

  3. You're in elo hell, so your tilt meter is already halfway. You or your teammates dont know how to come back from early or mid game disadvantages or to close out games. You dont work together as a team. This one is true for up to even gold elo from what i've heard.

out of the 1700 some games ive played in ranked, about 1400 of them were in plat, plat my friend, is the real elo hell. d5 is pretty bad too

iTaLenTZ1/1/2017, 1:11:09 PM4 votes

As a high Diamond player I can say I have actually more fun in Silver/Gold than high Plat/low Diamond. People below Platinum 2 usually listen to arguments and calls because deep inside they know they aren't supergood and I find it more easy to carry them than carry Diamond 5 players even vs lower eelo's

WoonStruck1/1/2017, 12:41:26 PM3 votes

No, some players just don't know how to carry low elo games, or play champs that can't solo carry/don't have enough impact.

There is no Elo Hell.

Also, support is the easiest role to get carried in, but the hardest to carry bad games in. There's very little risk in it overall, though.

I started playing league in season 3. I was bronze 5 - bronze 2 the first 6 months, I managed to get to silver 3 at the end of Season 3. After that, I had a constant climb. Reached Gold for the first time season 4, plat season 5, got stuck plat season 6 and now omw to diamond. There is no elo hell, the only hell there is, is your mind. You're the only one holding yourself back. You may think it's your allies, but it is you. If someone plays bad and you get toxic or tilted, it is partly your fault, because you have a weak mind. Sorry, but that's the truth. You can learn to accept it and change your attitude. a good attitude makes you play better, carry more games and win more often. That's a fact, I do not need statistics or conspiracy theories to say that.

Start every game with the will to win, do not even think of losing. If you lose anyways, than swallow it, it happens. Just keep going and try as hard as possible. Do not flame and blame your team, because what has happened, can not be undone. It doesn't matter who is at fault, because you cannot change it.

The reason people say bronze is elo hell is because most people in that elo are inexperienced with the game and it shows in the decisions they make. Im currently climbing out of bronze right now and am in my silver 5 promos. There are a few natches I played where if I didnt get fed as the AD carry, we definetley wouldve lost with the decisions we were making

Colombo161/1/2017, 9:24:45 PM2 votes

Yeah no. If he got to high plat, there is absolutely no way he got stuck in bronze. Let me just put it this way: a high plat's mechanics alone would let him solo carry games in bronze, even if his decision making is absolutely atrocious, or vice versa. Focus on your play and improve, and you will eventually climb.

Elo hell doesn't exist.

If your story is true, then your friend has decent mechanics but is dumb asf (no offense).

It's not even mechanics that get you high elo, it's your macroplay, shotcalls, and objectives.

Pretty sure your friend gets carried because his team shotcalls for him in the higher elo.

I think Platinum is the real elo hell.

I played like 700 matches between Silver and Gold. 200 or so matches into Platinum and I've already seen at least 10x more players without borders, and pretty much every time I'm stuck with a borderless player I lose for obvious reasons. Then of course there are those times I win because there's a borderless player on the opposing team and it doesn't even feel like a win. It's just not fun, and these deplorables have sapped my desire to play ranked for the foreseeable future.

Something needs to be done about them.

You can totally show his accounts, you're not shaming him. And please do show us his accounts, because I'm really curious about all of that.

M4Shz12/9/2017, 4:21:46 PM1 votes

Can confirm all this. I'm stuck in bronze atm due to afk'ers almost every game and team mates that feed insanely. Only games I have alot of deaths is when i've been trying to save an ADC that goes solo against 3+ players. Been playing mobas since Dota 1 :)

So i know very well what I can do better and not, but when i play with friends that are Diamond5-2 i manage to outplay them and they are freaking out over me only being in bronze. So ELO hell does exist. Probably in all leagues not just bronze, but I can definitely say that a shitty team of trollers and ppl that just rage and afk is a huge problem from what iv'e seen so far. And its my main reason for not being higher.

Twiz72/27/2018, 5:27:28 PM1 votes

Sorry elo hell is real at bronze and silver. I was gold player that stopped playing for 3 yrs. Came back and got placed in silver. My kda is constantly over 5 on all champs i play. i have no champ that i average more then 3 deaths on. I ward constantly for my lane other lane enemy jungle i gank get other lanes ahead and none of this works. Enemy can walk past 2-3 wards and they don't react even if you ping they refuse to ward for themselves and if you get them a head they squander there lead. Also it's impossible to get them to go for objectives if they get some kills they think they are god and just go around chasing kills.

After couple weeks of dealing with this i started to look up my teammates for 10 straight games and i kid you not average kda if you take me out is less then 2 on my team or people just set on losing they pick champs they don't know how to play. And most of them after they die they say gg and wants to give up or they feed and want to give up they refuse to believe anyone but them can win the game. And then blame game starts happening and it's never there fault always someone else's then the flaming begins this is just about every game even on games you win.

JustARivenMain1/1/2017, 2:24:26 PM1 votes

I don't think it's real, granted i got placed in B1 and went straight to S5 in my promos for S4 now and i've lost only 6 ranked matches in 8 days or so [slayer-jinx-wink]

Zethro5/1/2018, 5:28:43 AM1 votes

Yall thinking there is an elo hell r wasting ur time typing, there is hope for you but you have to work at it. don't blame the system for giving you bad teammate. Afkers r on both teams and if u get more afkers on your team then the enemy team, not only are you lying most likely, but you are also not the typical case and should not make generalizations about the entire bronze tier. There r 4 positions on your team to fill, and 5 on the other team. So you should get more afkers on the enemy team than yours. Asssuming of course that yall don't afk.

Anyways, yeah listen to that one guy who said to focus on cs, I mained cassiopeia ever since I was bronze 5 and if you think i was topping the damage chart with that fuckin champ your outta ur goddamn mind, i can barely land my poison qs and Im in gold. I was simply half an iitem ahead FOR FREE by twenty minutes. Play late game scaling champs like twitch. FIGURE IT OUT

10/10 bait

there's a bunch of diamond+ youtubers/streamers who buy hardstuck bronze accounts and stomp low elo for content to shock and awe their silver viewerbase

takes them about 1-2 weeks to get to plat, usually

the most a hardstuck bronzie will get out of a new account is a couple divisions or silver
