Can support items work on toplane?
This is assuming the top laner is a support (zilean, karma, etc) and need mana regen + raw tankiness. Is there a reason why this wouldnt work? Please tell me ;D

100% works if you are playing a top lane tanky utility champion. Heimerdinger can even do it if you rush zz'Rot and Rylia's first. zz'Rot for roaming and laning power, Rylias for utility and peel. The rest of the items can be all support, full tank, or all AP. But that is just one example. Try it out :). Using it for Tank Karma seems like a good idea.

Sightstone, ehhhhh. anything other than the frost queens claim.... Ehhh, although i do get the amulet coin when i think im going to be easily outfarmed however. Lets me worry a little less about my farm. Most of the other items it depends on what you want to do with the champion. Locket for example would be good on shen, or can be atleast...... Most of it is just situational.
Yeah sure, lots of cheap utility. And plenty of toplaners that scale well with health and such. Just...don't overdo it.

well none of them really work in a solo lane. coin you need to miss out on cs to proc relic needs another person to proc spellthiefs needs you to not cs to proc. if you were to bring any one spellthiefs would be the best because you might be able to use it in between waves.

Not sure how you got into such a situation, unless you just want a utility top laners.
Personally, I would focus CDR, and Raw AP. If you have the luxury to farm, it's better to get high quality items and not focus support items. And AP on a utility laner is both offensively and defensively useful, as you will have access to high power shields. Though a Censor can certainly complement any shield that scales off of AP.
