With the new items, is Evelynn back in the fight?

With the new Hextech Protobelt, Is Evelynn now actually viable? Evelynn has had the issue of lacking in gapclosers by design and to be able to dash-ult-E right as you break stealth is pretty nice for her. The damage from the Protobelt also is nice since it procs effects like Echoes, allowing her to do loads of burst when she appears out of nowhere.

Also, the item's stats are nice and gives Evelynn exactly what she needs to gank in the midgame.

What do you, the community, think of this item on her?

(I myself voted 'helps', for the sake of seeing the results of my poll and my own bias, just remember that)

She's not just been viable, she's been fairly strong this season. Win rates for players who are experienced with her still over 60%, even in diamond.

The snowball changes this season, the removal of vision, etc, all helped her out. She's been a Tier one jungler all season so far IMO, just behind God Tier junglers and that's it.

Could these new changes push her into God Tier? Maybe. Time will tell. It certainly offers her options as a laner again as well.

Interesting... I never really considered the laning aspect, but it makes sense now that she can dash. What lane do you see her as being in, is a question too, since I can imagine how she can top and mid.

Well, if you take her top side you aren't going to get the full effect from her perma stealth passive, its a lot harder to impact the whole map from top lane. But she does have better matchups to some degree in that lane given the standard competition. Many mid lane match ups can be tough for her, she doesn't have great wave clear from range (up close its fine, but its range is very short, almost melee), she doesn't have cc, her all in potential in terms of burst isn't quite up to par without significant item purchases, but the ability to impact the other lanes is far greater. No mid laner has ever had better roam potential. When I play her mid I try to push hard and clear waves and shove to tower as often as possible. That allows me to wander off, and the mid laner won't know if I dip out, I might still be hanging around, which makes the opposing mid laner not want to push too hard back until I pop up again. But again, a lot of those matchups are disadvantageous for eve so trying to stick around and fight the enemy mid will get you in trouble. Top lane matchups are a lot easier in general, many of them are melee and also lack the type of waveclear to apply hard pressure. Best scenario is if you get a top opponent like a nasus. He wants to sit around and farm, and he also can't do anything to eve. Like, at all. Wither? Eve presses w and spams laugh and emote. Nas tries to farm past his own turret? Hate spike to the face all day. Nas finally gives and submits to farming at this turret? Eve wanders off and starts ruining the mid laner's life or gives the jungler fits at his buffs.

There is no question these new items give her a substantial boost to laning power as soon as she gets one or two of them, I'd probably rush the protobelt into rylai and figure out my direction after that item wise. If I feel like I'm far enough ahead maybe go more offensive and take the other new hextech item to improve my burst, if I know I need the defense I'd probably opt to go hourglass third. If I need to tank up there is always frozen heart, IBG, and banshees veil, If I need to start a split push style strat I can opt for more waveclear with guinsoos, hydra, ludens or zzrot portal. If I need to opt into a pick and push strategy I can opt for abyssal scepter and lichebane to bring my assassin potential to all new hieghts. There's a ton of flexibility with eve that allows you to tailor to the game situation.

I still think she will be best as a jungler, with a good showing in mid lane in specific matchups, and some one somehow will make top lane split push eve a thing as a niche strategy. Time will tell.
