At least you can play with less than 120 ping when your "local" server is up? A lot of players in NA get higher ping to the NA server than the Japanese do.

East coast ping problems

EUNE goes from 60 to 120, that's on my ISP which is probably on of the worst.

Im in NA east coast and get 70 ping, my friend down the street gets 150. We're both on good connections, but with different ISP's. ^ true story

This is clearly riot's problem! Create a server down the street because you're lagging my friend! herpaderp. Not everything is based on 'shitty riot servers'

Without anything changing on my end my ping gradually went from 68 to 80 to 90 then a jump to 120+ with massive packet loss. After much time spent talking to my ISP they found nothing wrong. I contacted Riot, after 2 weeks of mostly no responses Riot did a server maintenance and my ping dropped back down and most the packet loss stopped until a later patch.

I'm wired directly, I don't have BS running in the background, there is no other ISP available it's an effective monopoly (all other companies are resellers of the same lines). Sometimes it simply is Riot's fault, and the main server for the entire continent being in one of the westernmost locations possible is unprofessional as it gets. Even 70 ping is horrendous, you may think it's great since you're used to it but that's noticeable lag.

What does a tracert to 192.64.170.1 look like?

I'm getting ~80 ping to the servers and ~35 ping to Riot's Chicago hub (eqix-ch2.riotgamesdirect.com). Either way, your ISP will never admit doing something wrong.
