Honor Wall - Suggestion about the Honor System

Pastramka··202 votes·8,747 views

I really like the Honor system, but sometimes it feels like just a honor point it is not enough:

It would be nice if under the green button is a text input, doesn't have to be long, 100 characters or so. In this input one writes a little message, if one wants naturally, it wont be mandatory.

And then in a page in the summoners profile there will be an "Honor wall" with icons from the Summoners champions from that game that gave the comment, something like this :

http://i.imgur.com/FsrvYXN.png

I guess summoners that commented should be anonymous to visitors to the wall, But the owner can visit the commentator's profile by clicking the champion icon. The comments must be approved by the owner for public display, so there wont be comments like "Biggest KS-er NA! FU!".

If a comment is not approved after a week it can be auto deleted, so if one does not wont to bother wont have to.

This can be also a good opportunity for a gift summoner icon from Riot: "1k approved Honor comment" icon.

As long as you can report people who send you rude shit, yea.

jQuery26 votes

Yeah, that's a good idea, a third button for reporting offensive comments.

3 reports - never again can the summoner comment on an honor point.

Pastramka8 votes

That would be nice.

Rock Rockburgh3 votes

It definitely shouldn't be permanent. Everybody would lose privileges within a month because people would just report all their honor to mess with commenters.

{quoted}

you guys talking about reporting people who post negative honor comments.. 1) its better than being reported and getting a chat ban from an automated system 2) the image clearly shows the ability to delete or approve the messages put on your wall via the check mark or X. 3) Having the ability to report someone for honoring you would be retarded.

He is right delete and approve is all its needed.

Or people would exploit it to send insults

Maybe put a little colored border around each one to differentiate teammate comments from opponents.

RikoZerame6 votes

That would kind of be resolved by the fact that opponents can only give the "Honorable Opponent", one, while teammates can only do the other three.

Looks awesome, I've actually wished I could comment on honors before, not sure why you can't. :/

Iittala4 votes

So many upvotes I`d love to know why someone honors me

Khoto4 votes

This sounds great but just like other people were saying instead of you having to report the offensive comment you can just delete it straight off your wall.

WhereIsMyBeefalo4 votes

i think will be better if the messages are predetermined. Under the red button you could find a dropdown list with a serie of messages like:

"Thanks for being the best support" "It was a pleasure to play with you" "You helped our team a lot today, keep it up" "It was an honor to face you"

or something like that. We know that giving people the option to message someone freely only will bring toxic behavior and spam.

Pastramka8 votes

I dont know if this will be that appealing. It wont have nearly the same value as your own thoughts.

Rainbow Wasp4 votes

Awesome idea. It's a good way to show even enemies that they were doing well instead of routinely giving worldess honor.

Upboat.

This is an absolutely wonderful idea!

I would also like the ability to turn off honor banners. Gets old getting harassed for having one.

Klatn Yelox1 votes

People harass you for having an honor banner? What kid of trash did they scrape off the sidewalk to match with you? I have only ever seen one person comment at all on someone's honor banner in play, and it was a compliment. Honor banners literally mean you are among the most positive players in the game, going beyond simply not being toxic. No, in order to get Honor Banners, you need to actively behave in a positive manner, consistently. Being harassed for having one is like being harassed for being an honor-roll student.

I feel like if they left a particularly harmful sounding one, you could just choose to show it and then send a support ticket and have them punish the person. I mean if its just a crappy jab, deleted, if its like a death threat or something, support ticket, and bam other guy loses his account for being people instead of a person.

Klatn Yelox1 votes

I agree with everything you said.

But the last thing there, I don't under stand

being people instead of a person.

What exactly does this mean? I don't mean to be a jerk, but this autism really gets in the way of deciphering speech mannerisms I haven't heard before.

Standard o Honor1 votes

Sorry, its a thing i started doing since i took some philosophy course. There was a class where we had to read texts from some philosopher and from his readings determine what he regarded a person to be. Basically boiled down to person being respectable, upstanding, thoughtful, distinguished, and an all around ordered individual who doesn't look down on others.

Klatn Yelox1 votes

You mean that as in a person is all of that, and an individual who is merely a part of a people isn't?

Sorry for the late response, I haven't been on in a few days, had some classes to deal with.

What about suggested players on TB based on their honor pts.

This sounds like a great idea!

Saevum2 votes

Nice idea. Best case scenario, would reduce toxic behavior.

MXXIV2 votes

I think the honors should stay anonymous.

PanterLily3 votes

As I understand they will be. Only the ones with comments can be seen and only by the summoner who received the comment.

Otherwise others visiting ur profile/Honor-wall will see only what champion had the commentator playing for that match, no summoner name, no date and time for the mach just the champ. I assume this is to give a bit of context to the comment, also a bit of color to the wall.

I like this suggestion a lot! And I don't mind if the comments are anonymous for the one who received them or not either way I think this will be a very nice feature.

I can't see why I'd want someone I think it's good or helpful to not know that I think so.

This is a fantastic idea. I always feel good when I get honor but this would really make the honor system more fun and interesting.

I'd be so happy if this was put into the game. I would start giving honor a lot more. This needs to be a thing! Upvoting this! :3

Rito shut up and take my money. All of it. Make this happen.

I love the idea !

It would be great to know that, people in this community can give you compliments. Rather than the generalization that the league community is toxic.

Awesome idea, love it!

@Lyte now THIS is something we can do with the honor system.

Some limits that should be put in, or at least considered:

  • The amount of comments that you can give: Probably shouldn't put a limit on this. You'd have to first honor the person you're praising, and you can still be reported for giving rude/inappropriate comments.

  • How long the comments last: I think 60 days is a good spot before they're purged, and you can mark for saving the ones you really like.

  • How many you can have: Some number divisible by 10 that doesn't invalidate the best people who get a lot of honors. 30-50-80 feel like good spots, and you can always prune them yourself or save for keeping.

KaisadiIIa1 votes

I think there is no reason to put a limit on how many you can have. Messages are short and I think the server will have no problem on hosting even 500 or 600 messages per user (considering that most "casual" players never reach that number of games).

Gear Kitty1 votes

It's not just numbers, it's logistics. They -could- have the server space needed, and it could even be doable to allow unlimited/ultra-high comment storage.

But you wouldn't look through that many. That's a fuckton of illegible (and they will be if it's random players) sentences that would be a giant mass of words.

In addition, getting a "Great game!" comment is a drop in the bucket when you already have 438 comments in your bank just like it. With the 30-50-80 limit, you have the best of the ones you've received, and they can put in a counter for every comment you've had, the saved, new, and deleted ones.

I can pretty much guarantee that if the Player Behavior team DID make a system like this, they would keep the smaller limit. Not only would it save data space (say hello to our lack of saved replays), but it would keep each one you get -special-, making you want to earn more not just for a number, but to keep your inbox new and unique over the run of a season.

They should also allow you to rejoin the queue, without cancelling the post-game lobby. When i watch diamond+ streams, they skip the lobby altogether and never report or honor because they need to get back into the queue asap. (luckilly i'm a silver scrub who doesn't have this problem)
