Mark a champion for Ban

Pastramka·3/5/2015, 10:04:27 PM·130 votes·10,718 views

When its my turn to ban in solo I always write in the chat: "Banning ChampionName" , In order to let my team know what is gonna be banned and give them a chance to complain.

It will be nice if for bans when clicking the champion it just gets marked and u can lock on for ban with the "lock on" button or it auto locks on after time out. So the team can react faster to the captains choice.

EDIT: Definition: This is my Idea for an Instant/fast/low-resource Improvement/upgrade of the current model of Draft Mode, Improvement is meant to cut down communication time to teams/captains that are willing to communicate what should be banned.

This is a pretty neat idea! One thing I'd want to figure out is how best to display the bans people want. It could get pretty overwhelming if not done correctly. Maybe something like only letting people 'vote' for one ban on each teams turn to ban. That way you're seeing a max number of 5 votes per ban turn.

I also agree final say should be in the hands of the captain. All in all though, might be a neat way to facilitate players communicating early.

Should also note that I am not on the team that could implement something like this, but I'd be curious to chat with them and hear their thoughts.

Couldn't agree more. It would be a nice idea to be able to mark it, and I would think it'd be interesting to see what the rest of your team could suggest for bans, maybe have a different effect for their "suggested bans".

Personally im with the group of people who say there should be 5 bans per team, 1 ban per person. That way first pick cant just ban the first three champions they see or none at all (which happens so often i stopped asking for certain bans since they wont happen 80% of the time).

Just do what Dota 2 did

add 30 seconds before pick/ban phase begins

players can talk in chat during this phase, call lanes/roles, decide bans and introduce themselves to each other to solidify trust and teamwork.

If the team could vote who to ban, I'd be pretty happy! The team captain should be the mediator for when the team can't agree on the bans instead of the sole decider, because let me tell you how many times I've seen Akali Akali banned after her QE combo nerf..

-facepalm-

Great idea, there definitely needs to be greater interaction with the rest of the team on champion bans.

When I first saw the title, what I thought of was other plays would have the rotor in front of them, and they could click on champions they wanted banning, sort of like a voting system. In the end it's still the captain's decision of who to ban, it's just another way of getting info from people who can often communicate very little.

However I think your way is better, as it focuses on not banning the champs they want to play rather than banning the ones they dont want to play against, which is probably more important at lower ELO (and certainly the thing people get annoyed by more, even if they didn't communicate).

Also your teammates might suggets the bans they want by marking them too.

i always ban Tryndamere Teemo Darius in that order!

This would be great. I always ask my team mates on who they want banned, but I never have enough time.

I thought it was the other way around, your team marks champions for you as you ban.

In other words, the champ select is open to the team per ban and they each get to mark a champion; the mark grows in size on each vote.

Example:

Say a player on your team wants Fizz banned, he will be able to click him during ban phase.

To the captain, a yellow circle will appear on the corner of said champion and it will grow in size OR have a number in it's center based on team ban choices.

It's really boring for teammates to sit, seeing the champions grayed out during ban phase.

To top it off, the players can't differentiate THEIR OWN champions during this phase to think tactically of their picks.

Good idea.

There should also be an option to mark a champion for not ban. Maybe even let each person choose a few of their favorite champions to have automatically start in the pool of champions marked for not ban by your team every time you go to champion select.

Although, your team leader could still choose to ban any champion anyway, these would just be suggestions, of course.

that sounds great, you know what would also be cool? a big red X to mark the champion for recommended ban, and a big blue circle for the champion that person wants to play, when you put your mouse over it, it shows the person's name who wanted the champion.

It would also help when you missclick and ban Poppy. :(

I have an idea of how this could be implemented. In Pirate101 players are assigned colors depending on when they go in battle on their teams turn (i.e. dark blue for first, light blue for second, light green for third and dark green for fourth). When you right-click on a tile a border in your assigned "placement" color will appear around the tile, alerting your teammates in the fight (if any) that you've targeted that specific tile. Of course these colors are only if you're on the blue team (which you always are on in pve but are only sometimes on in pvp) but still you get the general idea there I'm sure.

Something like this might be able to work in League of Legends to a certain extent there as well there also. Alternatively a colored number could appear on one's champion choice during the ban phase (i.e. the number would appear in the middle of the champion's portrait alerting the other players (especially the captain) that that is who you want to have banned in that particular game there).

Let me know what you think of this idea as I'd love to hear some feedback on this here as well also, so there's that at least there now.

I only ban champs that start with Z

ModKnightsKemplar3/6/2015, 9:00:28 PM1 votes

I still want 5 bans; one for each person on the team. I think the number of champs can support that. But... this is still an awesome idea. One that is much more likely to be implemented.

PatMcGroyn3/6/2015, 9:54:11 PM1 votes

This isn't a bad idea, but I think communicating in chat is a simpler way to do this. All you have to do is type in "Ban X/ Y/ Z," and more often than not, the captain will agree.

Virgin Ray3/6/2015, 11:40:17 PM1 votes

Good idea. I also think there should be a vote for a banned champion. Also there should be a 30 second time to tell captains what you will play and what you think should be banned, which will go through a vote system.

rMdinQJAr63/7/2015, 12:10:43 AM1 votes

why are you banning master yi?

King K Rool3/7/2015, 12:46:55 AM1 votes

For the voting method you could just have the votes highlight the champion with a glowing border the brighter the border the more people want to ban it.
