Champ select feeling really stagnant.

I don't know about you, but I feel really, brutally punished in any game that I don't force myself to play one of the big flavor of the month meta picks these days. I'm not talking about goofy off-meta stuff like AP varus or jungle Vayne. I mean "pick graves or afk". The same handful of champs are in every game... and I see why. They slaughter all their rivals. I feel forced to pick the same crap everyone else is picking to even have a PRAYER now. Does anyone else feel the same? I haven't seen so many champs in forever... and every time I try to pick something unFotM I feel weak as hell.

Tell me I'm imagining this. Are there really only 15 or so champions who can compete on the same level?

I really dislike these posts for a variety of reasons.

1-Almost everything can be viable, you just have to be good enough to pull it off

2-Yes a meta always exists but their are plenty of champions who always remain viable or in a inbetween spot, so why not just find a champion who is simply well rounded.

For example I love Ahri and Thresh, their will never be a season where these two champs arent viable. I have fun with both of them

3-It feels like your flaming people who play to win, nothing is wrong with working hard to win by following a meta. We meta mains don't make topics flaming you none meta mains, but you none meta mains are pretty quick to go

I'm not flaming ANYONE here, dude. I however HAVE been flamed by an irate teammate for not locking in as Graves jungle when he was left unbanned. Low and behold, the very next person to pick locks graves top and stomps lane to hard carry. So should I be mad at the flamer on my team for raging all game that I cost us the game by not picking Graves... or at the game itself for having a champion be that overpowered that picking him makes or breaks you?

"Meta mains", if there is such a thing... do flame. A lot. They just do it in-game. They do it if you lock in an unpopular choice or an off-meta champion. I don't even think "meta main" should be a real thing... if you're following the meta you don't HAVE a main... you are picking whomever you're told is strong that month. And I'm not even raging at the people who lock in these picks. I was asking if anyone else gets the feeling that you really HAVE to lock in these picks to have a fair shot at winning games these days.

So don't put words in my mouth, and DO understand what I'm saying before you respond with something under the impression that I'm attacking you for being a Zed main or whatever. I don't want the meta to dissolve. I just want to be free to choose one of the 80+ champs that AREN'T considered meta right now and have a fair shot against the guy spamming Graves, Gangplank or whomever.
