Spell Vamp Items

I think that there need to be more spell vamp Items added to the shop. As of right now there are "4" items you can get to increase spell vamp, I only count 2 of those items because the first item item 3145 builds into 2 of the other items and item 3124 only works if you are below 50% health. Currently the most spell vamp a champion can get just by items and masteries is 55.44% spell vamp. Keep in mind that spell vamp is cut in third by aoe abilities. Also to get the most spell vamp there has to be at least 17 points in the defensive tree and most mages don't do that. Another thing to keep in mind is that in order to get the most spell vamp not only do you have to put 17 points into the defensive tree, but the champion also has to be below 25% health. Where if you look at the life steal side of things it is really easy to get over 50%. For both of these examples I did include item 3065 and the bonus 20% healing effects.

There's been interest shown in "fixing" spellvamp, because it heavily favors manaless champions, and is pretty useless for the mana-consuming champions that would want to use it, because they'd run oom too quickly for it to be effective. Nothing concrete, but it's more likely they'll rework the system before we get new items for spellvamp.

This really sums it up. Spell Vamp as it is is just not a stat that's good for the game. It's not even that bad right now for champions that can actually make use of it; it just pales in comparison to what other AP items do.

One of the ideas thrown around was to modify the effectiveness of spellvamp for each individual ability, but obviously that would be a very confusing solution.

If it was a sort of "On Hit Potency" field it might be worth it, opening up a lot of cool spell effects like Rylie's and Liandry's to be implemented without making champions like Singed a god. Rylie's is at a lower potency on the same skills spell vamp is at a lower potency currently.

As long as you're not exclusively doing it for spell vamp and spell vamp alone the effort would probably be worth. Just need to make sure the On-hit-potency of each ability feels pretty intuitive and logical, so you adding the field makes things appear simpler rather than more complex. Larger range, larger AoE, and longer duration should all logically lead to weaker effects.

You have to remember that the same numbers might not be good for the same effects. For example, Malzahar's Space AIDS mght have a high Spellvamp quotient, but I don't think we want that thin having a high Rylai's quotient. The problem with using quotients as a solution in general is that it adds a whole extra field of stats that people have to figure out and memorize; if they can find a less cluttering solution, then that would probably be fore the best.

Pretty sure there were some posts about the stat during the era of vladimir nerfs where riot stated that they didn't like the effect, and if it didn't directly nerf certain champs then they would remove it. Don't quote me on that.

just make spellwamp give mana instead of hp that would be more healthy than current spam skill to infinity cause riot added too much mana regen for mages who have to "manage their mana", what is the point of making a resource if one item is able to make it infinite yes this is a qq about mage items being completly crappy, all those items do is removing the weakensses that those champs should have, weaknes to burst is deleted by zhonya, possibility of running out of mana is removed by chalice or the tear, possibility of not killing the enemy is deleted by deathfire grasp, cooldown reduction is stuffed in most of ap items the entire bracket of apc's is viable only due to items, they get insanely good items while their enemies dont get good counter items (look at mr items, they are made to not actualy make you tanky vs magic dmg because it would hurt apc's )
