Top lane Leona item 3068 + item 3025 / item 3078 then go tankier and cap CDR, it's way more fun and viable than it should be be after the recent changes to her Q/R making her unintentionally stronger in 1 vs 1s.

AP Aatrox

To make up for his "toxic" passive and on hit effect, riot gave this dude high AP scaling and magic damage type on 2 oh his abilities. This build has the problem of making him 1 trick pony, which doesnt work in competitive but its ok for normal games. The Burst he can achieve is very high and one-shot squishies, but has a downtime and is reliant on. He is very similar to AP Malph

I occasionally play Soraka jungle taking AD and attack speed runes for early clearing. Ranking spells Q E Q W early on. Build usually is item 1402 or item 1410 item 3116 item 3158 item 3060 and whatever fits the situation. With 12/18/0 masteries taking thunderlords you can actually get off a really strong level 3/4 gank by using E onto the opponent then Qing them and autoing creating a shocking amount of burst and due to the silence the opponent cannot flash away.

sometimes Zyra jungle item 1402 item 3116 and however i want to build , its kinda fun considering i suck in jungle also i do top lane Karma as a tank because its fun to piss off toplaners i also do the occasional MissFortune top / mid lane because its fun and oddly enough i still do good in lane lol MF top item 3071 item 3142 item 3047 / item 3158 , item 3153 and other items
mid item 3156 item 3147 and others is a fun thing.

I'm calling bullshit on that.

Normal AD Varus does a total of 15% Max HP Damage.

500 AP Varus can dole out 45% max HP Damage. To reach this level in a viable manner Varus needs a Nashor's, Hextech Gunblade, Void Staff, Lichbane and A Rabadon's for the extra 35% AP multiplier. This is currently the most viable AP Varus build.

To be able to do 100% Max HP Damage, you'd need 1400 AP.

Even at 1000 AP, you'll be doing only 75%, which is an AP mark thats very difficult for alot AP champs to reach, even with the right team comp.

I've tested the limits multiple times, and theorized with a friend;the highest possible AP output you can reach on Varus is roughly 1000 AP.

To hit even 900 AP, you'd need Hand of The Baron, 3 Infernal Dragon Buffs, Elder Dragon Buff and Blue Buff, and an elixir of sorcery, that brings the count to 953 AP.

Theoretically, this would be the maximum viable AP Limit for Varus with 5 items and a pair of boots.

To hit 1000 AP, drop the boots and grab Ludens Echo, even though it's not that great of an item on AP Varus.

The final mark you could do would be 75% Max HP Damage.

There's no way in hell you could do 100% Max HP Damage.

It would also be broken as shit for the following reasons, based on ulting an opponent and then following through with Varus' Q or E and the Thunderlord's Decree effect:

Any champions under 2000 HP (That's you, ADCs and Assassins) Would be dead in 2 moves. A tank would lose roughly 60%-70% of their HP , and would die if they were instantly marked with blight 3 times again and followed up with another ability. Most mid-lane mages would lose 80% if they were lucky to survive.

This was based off of the normal AP Varus rune set, which is similar to most ADC pages. Varus needs Nashor's to take advantage of the blight stacks and to land them quickly.

he has the highest base HP5 in the game, and HP5 items increase your health regen by a % of your base.

So it's not out of the question to heal a few hundred health every 5 seconds lategame.

good ole tank karthus

thornmail is a good one in there as well for deny lifesteal/returndamage maybe a rylais for the slow

basically sit on adc's face with summoner 6 summoner 3 and kill with base damage, i guess red smite cinderhulk would work too and gives a mini exhaust, except its up every fight so weaker but up often

i used to do tank karthus too maybe ill give it a go again one of these days ^^

Friend of mine did some recalculations

Theoretically, this can reach 1550 AP, basically 108%. But only if this includes all reachable buffs: 3 reds + infernal, HoTB etc.

I'd like to wager someone playing AP Varus try to reach that high viably. There wouldn't be neither enough time, nor money needed to reach a build that reaches that limit. It'd require you to basically not die for the entire game and get fed as fuck, as well as be lucky enough to snag elder, baron and 3 red dragon spawns.
