What we did with this update was we took a look at some of the juggernauts that occupied the same ‘tactical space’ as Nasus (we think there are a few more than these, but settled on four for our first set) and added a little more uniqueness where we could.

Nasus is a champion where most interaction with his lane opponent takes a backseat to playing Farmville with wave after wave of minions until he gets to a point where he can interact with his lane opponent without losing trades.

Every single one of the champions being addressed in this link are encouraged to interact heavily with their lane opponents, with each of their ults being single-target and used to either kill their foe or put them in a situation where their doom is all but imminent.

They're Fighter/Tanks. Tanky DPS. Tanks that deal damage.

look at how Riot described them:

When you think brute force, these champions should come to mind: powerful, durable, immobile and melee.

That's not a small niche. It's the Barbarian class in a wide range of games.

Nasus is just the easiest example to point to for a tank that deals damage in LoL, because it's really really obvious he's capable of dealing tons of damage while being tanky.
