So here's a new idea. I am going to be applying Pareto's principle (If you don't know what it is, look it up), AKA the 80-20 rule, to role selection. Here's my idea:

If more than 80% of your games are played in one role (one role being 20% of all roles, since there are 5 roles to pick from), then you will have the OPTION to select only that role to be played in ranked dynamic queue.

Now, this would only slightly affect queue times, because only a small portion of the community focuses on roles this much, and it would also resolve people's complaints in champ select that they need another role. It gives them NO EXCUSE to not be playing two roles, because they clearly can play more than one role if they have more than 20% of ranked games played in other roles.

No. I think people who play limited roles in soloQ are unskilled and don't deserve to get above silver. For pros it's different, because they play 5v5 premades.

I hope you realize that in diamond 2-3 mmr, it is very difficult to perform on a role you aren't prepared for. And its even worse the higher you go. Gosu could not survive on a non ADC role, just like how boxbox could not survive on a non top role. For us higher elo players, we need this a lot more than you silvers do because we aer stressed to perform much more.

That has nothing to with the 80-20 principle.

Also, it would be better to have everyone pick as many roles as they like.

I'm not sure that's what Pareto's 80/20 rule means lol.

because maining one role is boring as hell.

That is so subjective, but regardless, you are fortifying my point. People who don't need the 80-20 rule don't need it because they have opinions similar to you. Thank you for that.

im pretty sure you dont understand the 80-20 rule.

This is just a warped application of the concept, that doesn't mean it cannot be applied. Use your head.

It's not a warped application. It's completely unrelated. Just because one role is 20% of all roles that doesn't mean it relates to every principle with a 20% in it.

Pareto's principle is that 20% of your action causes 80% of your consequences. A warped application would be blaming 80% of your loss on the feeding top lane.

Got it, but you are overthinking it. Pareto's principle is how my concept came to be, whether it is related or not. In the end it doesn't matter; you need not argue with me on such trivial matters. What matters is getting my actual idea into fruition, in which something like this can actually exist for people who really main their role.

Yeah, Pareto's principle has absolutely nothing to do with what you're talking about. You may have wanted to look it up, too.

I'm sorry can you explain it using other words, I'm actually confused. Like, if a one trick poney picks always, let's say top-mid and 75% of the games he's top then he won't be affected. And another guy with the same thing is slightly more 'lucky' and 80% of the games he's top, now he has the right to be top in 100% of games. It's not that, is it? That's why I guess I understood wrong. Can you reexplain?
