Why doesnt Reksai's bite consume fury?
Riot has occasionally stated that they dont like manaless sustain, harass, true damage, and overly safe champion mechanics. Then they make an effort to create champs that have all of these traits on a regular basis. Riot("we dont inforce a meta")Games also seems to forget that champs can be played in other roles when they are designing new ones specifically to align with the meta.
Hence we have(yes its overpowered)
top. No, the existence of champions that counter something doesnt = balance. Everything is vulnerable to CC, and skillcap should not be considered as a balancing factor(not the Reksai is hard to play). So what makes her overpowered in lane? Well try building up some fury beforehand with a few autos on minions(doesnt take many), melee Q your opponent for massive damage, bite them for 100+ true damage(maybe a lot more if youre building pure damage), then burrow with full fury and heal a quarter of your hp back.
If you dont like the matchup, you can always hang back for a while and throw infinite ranged Qs. It doesnt do much damage, but hey its easy aoe damage and its free!
I think one simple change will make a large difference in top lane Reksai's strength.
Bite should consume all fury if it deals true damage. Currently there is zero tactical consideration needed for Rek'sai's fury. Its not a resource, its a bonus.
Every other fury based champ has tactical considerations involved with using fury. Generally its based on choosing between damage or healing.
gets bonus damage with his empowered Q and also heals from it, but this has the major downsides of both pushing his lane very hard, and doing much less damage than his empowered W.
hits like a wet noodle in lane without fury. If he's forced to heal with it, he dramatically cripples his damage and has to be passive until he generates more.
doesnt need to bother with such tactical choices. Fury is easy to generate, isnt consumed by damaging skills, and she doesnt need to do huge aoe damage to a minion wave to heal with it.
Nerfs are inevitable and are already being tested by Riot, but I doubt just dabbling with the numbers on Q is going to do much at all. Its the sustain, and practically free true damage that is the issue here.
