A little advice for the Treeline

Zyorhist··2 votes·835 views

I am working on running some Treeline matches with my team, and hopefully for season 5 I will actually have a team for the whole season. With this in mind, as a player who is seeking to improve my current game I would like some information on effective strategies for the Treeline. Keep in mind I also like to debate so if you answer here I may have questions or challenges for you to see where your statements come from.

If you push lane; gank

Anyone missing expect a; gank.

Alter is not worth your; life

Play a jungler that can solo vilemaw early game and can sustain jungle; so you can have the most presence in jungle to counter gank.

All bushes always have 3 people in them. Even if you see 3 people on the map; be surprised how quickly people vanish

Try not to take junglers farm and other lanes before level 7-8; Resources are limited and taking them early will put them behind. I mean 2 levels behind.

Play bot champions that can 2v1. That said don't run 2v1 in a lane; Nothing like your team hitting 6 while the enemy team are still 4

Ban: Lissandra: she can get to places you wouldnt expect Fizz: Annoying Darius: Most likely you are done Pantheon: if you dont make sure you have CC to stop him from rushing bot.

Yeah, main idea is map awareness on TT is crucial. On SR if you see someone in a lane you can assume they are in that lane. In TT if you see someone top lane and you sneeze then they will be bot and in your face; 3 man gankham style.

what about team compositions. I typically like to run 1 heavy cc (or 2 with some hard cc), 1 magic damage (or 2 partial magic damagers) and 1 jumpy engager, if not more. Figuring out who can fill more than 1 of these at a time is hard but can be done. As for marksman types, I have seen them either do extremely well or extremely poorly. What champ types excel.

Caitlyn's probably one of the top tier picks for ADC in TT. range farming Qs and trap for safety.

but like all ADCs. they're mega squishy in a game mode built for bruisers.

otherwise you can make some nifty plays with Blue Ezreal. or more precisely. Iceborn Ezreal. and whatever damage you want.

==

with that said. i believe Annie is the most threat in TT. almost 100% uptime on AoE stuns

Salidfingers1 votes

Annie is a big threat and hardly ever banned and caitlyn is a vary safe ADC with traps blocking jungle entrance.

My team comp is sustain burst, unless we make bad plays we always win.

Olaf/Mao+WW/Uydr+Annie/LuLu

I think on this account you can see just Olaf+ww+annie has a vary high win rate.

but if you want to cheese your way to victory

Rengar top/DPS Jarvin jungle/DPS Lissandra bot/DPS

you can blow up everything.

noct/jayce+jarv/mao+annie/lux

in either cases. Noct can swap out into jungling and have Mao/Jarv top. and i'm digging the CC Annie/Lux provides along with their relatively safe laning phases -> teamfight transitions.

haven't ranked 3s in awhile. but thats what we used to run before the team broke off due to lack of interest.

I'm writing all this down, so plz keep it coming guys...

Basically, ADCs usually aren't optimal for TT. Bruiser gap-closers are king. And always have one mage for burst.

Zyorhist1 votes

does it have to be a mage or could it be an assassin like kha or kat

KidKaiser1 votes

thats fine too.

top lane is practically first to lvl2. then fight ignite FB. so you're gonna want something strong for the lvl2 engage. otherwise you can feel free to just hit lvl2 first and poke the enemy out of lane/away from wave and last hit farm. watch your back tho if you shove too far and don't have jungler support.

bot lane's the safer lane to play. via the ganking area is mainly through the center. but with champions that can hop over walls and such. the wolf camp becomes pretty dangerous. (via wall hopping)

not much to say on jungling. but if you're playing like say.. Lee/Xin or something with gap closes.

starting wolf camp then rushing to the enemy wolf camp is pretty worth. have top/bot lane shove so they can come help out.

KidKaiser1 votes

you won;t hit lvl2 with the wolf camp tho. so prep up that smite and get ready for a smite duel !

so basically I think what a team needs is to fill these categories with their 3 champs (so like, 1 with 3 of the categories, 1 with 3 other categories, etc). If I'm wrong please let me know. Engages (Jumps etc) Sustain Magic and Physical damage CC Mobility Tank Range Burst

if you can think of anything else please let me know

KidKaiser1 votes

CC Engage Mobility

^ those are the main things you're gonna need. everything else is just complimentary.

altho having a tank and a burst is nice.

The most important thing for 3v3 is left out: waveclear. Without strong waveclear you will get outroamed by every team that didn´t neglect it and knows how the map works. Also, most fights are in very close peremeters, so AoE beats Single target dmg (except for massive burst to start the fight 3v2). And you should always make sure you have a strong early-game, as most matches get decided within the first 10minutes.

How is tryn not on your list of bans? Never seen a tryndamere lose on TT, he is made with 5v5 in mind and it shows when you only have 3 people to try to stop him.

Also I find tanky mages like swain, rumble, or ryze beat out regular ones on TT.

I think this is towards me.

I usually bully him out early and out sustain his damage late.

Annie and WW usually can shut him down on there own and I/Olaf can take his damage to the face most stages of the game. Plus he is a easy first blood if i don't let him build rage at start of lane.

What people consider OP all over these forums i consider food. Yasuo Ryze Akali Renekton Riven Maokai Lulu Syndra Etc... There all food to me. Why, i counter pick them and build accordingly.

Now My banes are Quinn's and Morgana's. A good quinn shuts down half my main champions and morgana shield is a pain

it was directed at the OP, but it applies to anyone that thinks tryn isn't always a number 1 ban in 3's. When your argument for not banning a champ is that you will play better then the opponent plays him, you are already admitting you agree that on even footing he is broken in a 3v3 fight.

Any tryn that hard farms early becomes impossible to takedown with his ability to go through most of the walls and his power at sniping towers, making it hard to group up in the first place. Even if a 3v3 breaks out it is unlikely for tryn to be around to be initiated on but he WILL be there to clean up, likely after having taken a tower before you've even really started the 3v2 on his teammates.

Salidfingers1 votes

I will agree that any champion can get out of control early if you play stupid(letting him farm) and it is hard for a tryn to 3v1 when his team is dead.

You say playing stupid and letting him farm like they are related, this isn't a cait vs udyr laning dynamic, tryn can always very easily farm regardless of what you do, especially on tt where he can start with a vamp scepter.

Tryn isnt playing "farm vs my laning opponent" he is playing pve and your watching as you farm. No amount of aggression will change that unless your counting on the player to be significantly worse then you.
