So...why did you remove Jinx's buff-indicator that tells you which gun she's using?

Seriously, that thing was very handy as it's not always apparent which gun mode you're on, especially in a messy fight. And often times you NEED to know exactly which gun you're using because one gun while several times more powerful, brings her scarily close to the enemies as well while the other one has like no DPS and is only good at a long range.

The buff indicator telling her which gun she currently has equipped was crucial to juggling between the two guns for Jinx.

I play a lot of Jinx but I never even noticed this. I usually just go by the sound of the gun or quickly glance at Jinx herself to see which gun she has out, and it doesn't take much to switch if you have the wrong one out anyway since the only cool down on the skill is a half second after switching just so you don't accidentally double tap it.

I know it's hard for people to adapt in this game, especially when you've got something that's already developed a subconscious action, but I feel like it will make it easier for them in the long run if they do in this case since you wont have to take your eyes off the game and look all the way to the bottom left just to see what gun you have. IMO it's just easier and better to look at Jinx herself.

I understand where you're coming from, but how exactly is removing the buff icon a net positive for Jinx players? Especially for those who can easily see the buff icons in their periphery in the heat of battle?

Speaking of which, I DO NOT LIKE THE NEW LOCATION FOR BUFF ICONS. It's not even a matter of having to adjust (not entirely anyways), but now that it's hidden away and shrunk down, you literally have to divert your attention for a microsecond just to see the icons, whereas before it was right there with the action as you knew your statuses without having to actually look at them.

Well unless Riot changes the buff icon locations again I'd say it would be better for Jinx players to just look at the character since you're already looking close to there anyway. You can do the same thing with her Q icon I believe, it changes just like the buff icon did, so maybe that's why they removed it.

In the heat of battle, it isn't always clear from your model until you fire off an AA.

As for her Q-icon, it's not nearly as obvious as the buff icon was unfortunately. Asides from being further off, it starts playing mindgames on you eventually. "The icon shows the rocket launcher! So....do I activate to bring it out or does that mean it's my current weapon?"

Shhhh, let's just start shooting.

I'm pretty sure it's a bug - when you start the game with Jinx and skill the Q, the gattling gun icon will actually be there until you use the Q for the first time, at which point it just disappears instead of switching over to the rocket launcher icon.

I guess it's the same bug that lets Anivias passive buff randomly disappear sometimes, with the difference that it ALWAYS triggers.

Wait, the Anivia bug is STILL around?!

There's also the W Hit aatrox bug.

5G8Nri0B541 votes

Never played Aatrox before (he has...numerous problems), what's his bug?

Samflash31 votes

Put a point in his W then toggle it. Your chat will show W Hit Aatrox or something like that.

5G8Nri0B541 votes

Well that's certainly annoying...

Wasnt it just shifted to over the champion pic?To the left i mean.

5G8Nri0B546 votes

Nope, it's completely gone. I was aware they hid all the buffs away to the bottom left corner (TERRIBLE move btw), but it's not even there.

I find it easier to look at the champ or just remember what mode I am in than to look down at that little icon. (In the messy team fight situation you are speaking of I wouldn't take my eye off the fight to search my gun mode) :P

On another note, I hope the wait for a Jinx skin is worth it and we get something sick. That skin she was released with is badddd

The animation on Jinx herself when holding the rocket launcher vs the minigun is distinct enough if you ask me. You also have a nice sound effect if you need to double check on the fly. I play a ton of Jinx I don't think I ever needed to look at the icon to see what mode I am in during a game.

5G8Nri0B541 votes

Even if you didn't, it should still be there for those who are able to check the icon in a microsecond no?

Junkο2 votes

You can check on the ability bar. (You know the icon for Q)

The enemy team should have a right to check though, even if it's obvious.

Maybe post it in bug reports?

5G8Nri0B541 votes

Didn't even know it was a bug...if it was, that's even worse.

Did you know...........that I've been trying to report an aggravating Galio bug with his W for the past two years and NOT ONCE HAVE THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE BUG OR DONE A THING TO FIX IT? Eventually I got sick and tired of bumping like crazy and went on once they nerfed Galio to oblivion after patches after patches after patches of direct and indirect nerfs. God dammnit balance team they don't know about the ripple effects of some of their nerfs.

I've also spent an entire year trying to report a gamebreaking Vel'koz bug only to not get a single answer nor see it ever fixed...

I usually look at the ability icon to tell which gun I have equipped. It's inverted compared to the buff icon, but it's much larger and thus easier to check during a fight.

5G8Nri0B541 votes

To each their own I guess.

For me the buff icon was easier because it

a) shows what you're equipping rather than the opposite and

b) you can "see it without trying to see it" because it's so much closer to the action.

Still, I see no value in removing it.

If you main Jinx, or even off-main, there is an easy indicator. Pow-pow, the minigun, will be on her right hip. Fishbones, the rocket launcher, will be on her left shoulder. =) Don't know if that helps. Also, if you go to auto something and you walk really close to it, thats a great way the game tells you you're in minigun stance. =)

5G8Nri0B541 votes

Yeah I'm well aware of both of that. But in the heat of battle where shit is flying everywhere, especially if there's more than one mage around flinging their crap, it gets rather messy.

Also you bring up one relevant point......................

Also, if you go to auto something and you walk really close to it, thats a great way the game tells you you're in minigun stance. =)

You see, this is EXACTLY what I'm trying to avoid and why the indicator was so helpful. If you have a rocket, fine, your DPS gets cut down but you switch back to mini-gun. But if you were in mini-gun mode and need the rockets...that's when you potentially screw yourself over because you misjudged which gun she had on.

The Q icon is the opposite weapon you are using btw. That and I think I just jinx too much =/ I know when im 700 range and when im 500(550?). Oh well. Sorry I couldn't help more. =(

5G8Nri0B541 votes

Yeah I eventually figured out the icon is inverse to what she's actually using.

In terms of readability, even if you understand it, I'm sure you can atleast see why it could be an issue for others, especially those who relied on the icon which was consistent with what she had equipped.

Either way, I'd love to see a Rioter's explanation about this. :/

EvilRabbitt1 votes

I can understand it. I never noticed icon before though =/ might be my real problem. Too focused on my hp bar, cds, and mana. oops =(
