Garen's Passive Update

So honestly I enjoy the current changes Garen is getting, including his passive.

However, I had this thought back during the juggernaut rework, and its stuck with me. Garen's passive seem to clash a bit with his identity as a paragon of Demacia. "[Demacia's] 'zero tolerance' moral code is strictly upheld by civilians and soldiers alike. In combat, this means Demacian troops may not make excuses, flee, or surrender by example." This idea that Demacian troops don't flee is at odds with Garen's passive, which rewards him for taking trades and then completely backing out of combat.

Wouldn't it make more sense for Garen's perseverance to give him increased healing after entering combat rather than after leaving it? Similar to the Spectre's Cowl passive effect. With something like that Garen would want to at least take continuous poke or small trades to keep his passive going, rather than wanting to completely stop fighting and not get poked so he can regen to full.

If any Red's see this, is it something that has ever been considered for Garen?

thematically yes, gameplay wise it would trash him.

the problem is that in many cases he has to endure poke in lane without being able to trade back at his opponents. with such a melee focused kit, opportunity for all ins are rare.

what they could do is make his passive overall more versatile. to be usable out of combat and situationally in combat to give him an ability to stay in the fight. but reducing his out of combat heal too much or even removing it like other people suggested wouldnt work with his current kit.

the ideal passive for garen is imo on another champion right now Volibear
