New Sona builds?

Well, things have changed a lot after the rework and Sona's playstyle is a lot different now, having to be so close to your team and so close to the danger zone in teamfights to be effective. To fix this, I've tried formulating a new build with both HP and plenty of mobility. If you could give me your thoughts that would be lovely.

Talisman of Ascension Nice movespeed active and cooldown reduction

Ruby Sightstone A necessity for any support

Ardent Censer Synergizes amazingly with her kit giving her movement speed, ability power, and increased attack speed for allies upon shielding/healing them.

Rylai's Crystal Scepter Gives her a lot of health that she really needs to be able to actually survive a fight and a sizeable chunk of ability power. The passive works really well with her Q as well.

Locket of Iron Solar Moar health and magic resist, along with some nifty CDR. Active goes well with Ardent Censer.

Swiftness/Mobility Boots with captain Enchantment The movespeed will help Sona get tags off of allies and with the captain enchantment her allies can get to her faster for buffs.

I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for reading! Sona

Your build only reaches 30% CDR, your only mana regen is from Ardent and Talisman and you have no expanded mana pool at all. You only have a grand total of two AP items. You end up hitting like a wet noodle on your own, and even worse you have absolutely no armor in there for building tanky.

End result? You get blown up by top, jungle, and their ADC at a moment's notice.

Gah you're right. Any suggestions?

Edit:Perhaps I could sub out the Locket for a Frozen Heart and the Talisman for a Spellthief's?

Unfortunately with only three real slots to work with unless you give up the Talisman you are pretty much forced to either go some form of glass. Or CDR tank.

Example of glass: Athene's, Rylai's, Twin Shadows - You can reach 250 AP with masteries and runes, you have a slow active via item, and Athene's insures you'll have plenty of mana in most situations. You also get full 40% CDR, but you die if sneezed on.

Though I do have a funky build I'm considering. Hits 6 slots just shy of 12K gold. Will be weak early, but almost impossible to take down once stacked.

Face of the Mountain + Sightstone + Boots + Archangel's Staff + Frozen Heart + Abyssal Scepter

Granted its only 30% CDR, and has pitiful mana regen early on. But it has an enormous mana pool and once the staff is stacked is very VERY hard to burst down. Has 130 AP before the staff's passive. But if you reach level 18 and staff is fully stacked you get another ~77 AP from its passive. May end up needing Homeguards mid game to top off in a timely manner though.

The real is issue having your ADC understand you need to last hit cannon minions. Though it won't be quite as terrible as it may seem even without the melee execute with the new Q aura damage on next auto. Would take some practice though. Main draw would be having a grand total of three shields available in short order. Two of which can be used on allies, one is self only.

I had some success with her using Catalyst the Protector in lane, at the end of the game (our victory) I only had 3 deaths.

Iceborn is nice but it still requires Sona to be in auto attack range, and that's dangerous with her current kit. Best to just play her as a scared little girl until Riot buffs her base stats to compensate for her armor and MR loss.

My build: Talisman, Ruby Sightstone, Rod of Ages, Boots of Swiftness + Captain (Works well with her E + Talisman), Ardent Censer, Mikael's Crucible. A little bit of health, MR and AP, along with 30% CDR (plus a blue pot to hit the cap) leaves me only worried about physical damage. The key here is to always be so far away from your enemies that you are never in threat of physical damage, so you stay in the middle of your team, healing, giving speed buffs and damage but not poking yourself.

Sounds like that could work. Thanks!

Happy to help :)

Why not item 3025 it gives her some needed armor and has much better synergy with her kit than item 3116 does, imo.

Hmm good thinking, it would go rather well with her kit. However, I prefer the massive AP and health boost from the Rylai's.
