So I guess the preaseason thing is happening again.

-Rito makes big changes to game -People complain about changes except for the few that understand the words Work In Progress -People flame Rito about the one broken/overtuned mechanic that's barely been refined due to it being live for a DAY -Next few days are entire comps built around this one mechanic -People realize that a lot of the stuff that works before still works -Meta slowly repairs itself with new mechanics and items

usually preseason changes make sense and serve a general purpose, even if the balance is out of whack.

whats exactly the purpose of marksmen buffs when they were strong to begin with? on top of that theyre turning a lot of general purpose items like maw that were good on marksmen, brusiers, and assassins into marksmen specific items and dedicate them the strongest masteries while not providing generally useful masteries to other types of champions.

theyre literally buffing a class that doesnt need buffs and dont care who theyre hurting in the process.

Purpose of Marksman Changes: The hope was to create a diversity of build paths for ADCs. I do agree that it got a bit out of hand but I don't think it's unfixable.

Maw of Malmortius: Did it change? I didn't see it in patch notes, but I was kinda skimming.

Hurting Other Classes: Several classes are actually having quite a bit of fun with the changes. Although it is limited because of the current nature of masteries, a lot of mages and assasins are loving ALL the squish, and with crit dominating over armor pen as the premier offensive multiplier tanking is easier than ever.

Any other questions, feel free to ask :3

maw lost its flat ad bonus with reduced health and they added lifesteal and attack speed during the shield duration. so an item that was good on marksmen, ad casters and bruisers was redesigned to be focused on auto attackers.

assassins and mages dont love the changes at all as they dropped significantly in winrate to around 45% and below.

the only tanks that thrive right now are rammus and probably malphite. heavy anti ad tanks that can stack 600 to 800 armor to be able to deal with the new marksmen. everything else blows up thanks to their 70% to 90% crit chance lategame empowered by giant slayer.

the new essence reaver also removed the choice between caster/cdr focused builds and classic carry builds. they get to be casters and carries in one now with 30% cooldown reduction from essence reaver + i.e.

kit changes and new items are one thing. there was no reason however to design their items to result in a significant stronger lategame, make them relative cheaper than everyone elses items to buff their midgame, and also buff their early game by giving them 5 ad.

theyre giving marksmen 12% damage reduction on one of their core items. not even tanks get that.

Maw: That is rather unfortunate, I liked that item. I will note, however, that Maw was never really completed for any reason other than spare money.

Assasin/Mage winrate: I did mention it was limited. Zed's getting buffs and Brand/Malz dominate midlane. Their winrates were pretty good last time I saw.

Tanks: I've seen Maokai, Rammis, Alistar, Malphite all flourishing. May be more.

New Essence Reaver: First off, it's finally a good item. Second, building both IE nad Reaver is pretty inefficient (at least early) as Reaver is a midgame powerspike (spikes after Shiv/PD) and IE's cost takes away from that. Also, I don't want to say anything bad about Bloothirster (ER) due to being a Lucian main. Bias for the win.

Marksman Buffs: Jarvan gets 5 AD nobody bats an eye, ADCs get 5 ad and everybody loses their minds. In all seriousness, I think the casters fall off late while IE carries lack the same early game.

Phantom Dance: Actually kinda hard to use for damage reduction. Mainly useful on Miss Fortune for the target change bonus, so you can switch between eeduction targets.

I do appreciate the non-ragey, intelligent conversation by the way. thanks <3
