If two players cannot queue together in Solo Q, they should NOT BE MATCHED IN A GAME.

Bronze Tier: Can only queue with Bronze and Silver Tier players. Silver Tier: Can only queue with Bronze, Silver, and Gold Tier players. Gold Tier: Can only queue with Silver, Gold, and Platinum Tier players. Platinum Tier: Can only queue with Gold and Platinum players, with exceptions listed below. Diamond V: Can only queue with Platinum I, II, III, and Diamond II, III, IV, V Tier players. Diamond IV: Can only queue with Platinum I, II, and Diamond I, II, III, IV, V players. Diamond III: Can only queue with Platinum I, Diamond I, II, III, IV, V, and Master Tier players. Diamond II: Can only queue with Diamond I, II, III, IV, V and Master Tier players. Diamond I: Can only queue with Diamond I, II, III, IV and Master Tier players. Master and Challenger Tier: Can only queue with Master, Challenger, and Diamond I, II, and III Tier players.

Why can matchmaking override this? There is no reason that you shouldn't be able to queue outside of these limitations if matchmaking will put them together/against each other anyway. Like what is that? Just had a Diamond and Gold in the same ranked game. lol.

I don't even understand why we need 2 ranked systems at once. Like what's the point of mmr, i'll get matched against higher ranked players to be able to advance to a lower rank than them.

seems pretty dumb to me.

Because of MMR.

100% agree

One of my qualms is when placed low and performing well, you play consistently against higher elo players while being 3 or even four tiers lower.

My problem here is that if im being considered by the system to not be eligible to play against players of my own tier level, i shouldnt be at that tier level at all.

Matchmaking should be constricted much harder than it currently is within tiers, but that makes for extreme wait timers and people hate that.

When I played diamond I last season, I actually got matched with a silver II guy one day (no joke). I figured it was a flaw in the matchmaking somewhere.

I am honestly sick of that, I was placed in silver and it was almost impossible to climb because there were so many golds and plats in my games instead of other silvers

Matchmaking can be extremely fair and busted at times. It'll try to balance based on the mean average of the players on your team.

In practice this means a Gold 1 player could queue with a Silver 5 player, and proceed to dominate mid-high Silver MMR. This is a fantastic way to cheat your promos (which I largely consider a tedious time gate that forces you to have an abnormal win rate for 3 or 5 games, that you'd never be expected to have overall... But I digress).

Because it uses a mean average, it results in extremes on opposite ends to be balanced. You could have a great player, and an awful player, on the same team and that'd balance out. Now to be fair, this rarely happens, but when it does it's toxic and typically results in one lane feeding and the other stomping down to your Nexus. Then it becomes, who got fed more? Your team or their one great player snowballing out of control?

Lot of people knew this'd happen when Riot moved to hide your true MMR under the guise of a streamlined ranking system. Most games use it to make unbalanced matchmaking less obvious till you look at 3rd party sites. It wasn't so much fixing the problem, than it was sweeping it under a rug.

Its simple.

If your gold with the MMR of a plat, then you should be matched with and against plats. If you're diamond with the MMR of a plat, you should be matched with a gold with the MMR of a plat.

If there was no tier system and we went off MMR alone, that player being matched with you belongs there 100%.

Was it Gold 1 and Diamond 5?

Pika Fox3/3/2018, 6:41:58 PM3 votes

Because youre assuming MMR = Rank.

DarkSoul19943/4/2018, 12:47:38 AM3 votes

This would break the Ranked system. You literally cannot climb if Riot doesn't match-make you against increasingly higher MMR opponents.

It's the same reason my smurf was Unranked last season and I had to do all of my placement games against Plats. The system knows where you belong and tries to put you there.

OP is talking about this game. His team has one G2 and enemy team has a one D5, rest are all plats. Irrelevant but their G2 support was a rioter, even feeding on Soraka. Omg, please don't win against those healing supports when played by a Rioter. Otherwise they might get the idea that Soraka, Janna are fine and boards/Reddit is just a minority.

TBH

Making one server match by rank would probably make all servers match by rank... And that'd kinda fuck the smaller ones >_>

Northmund3/4/2018, 8:57:11 PM1 votes

You even considered Challenger players long waiting time and added master/diamonds in there. Damn you should probably work at riot!

Jofeyy3/5/2018, 8:46:01 PM1 votes

I got matched with a plat 5 player in my gold 5 promos... Twice.

FurriesAreHot3/6/2018, 1:51:15 PM1 votes

Rank has no say in matches you get placed. Its all about MMR. Your MMR is seperate from your Rank. This is to prevent smurfs stomping Bronze and silver games.

Had a bronze team up with a silver and 3 gold today
