What is the point of Amumu?
Like, what is the strategic niche that he alone fills that no other champion can really match him on?

With 148 champions, you aren't going to find something that only one champion does.

His niche is that he is an engage tank who also enhances the damage of all his AP damage carries.
His passive converts magic damage enemies take partly into true damage, which means that Amumu adds value to every magic damage dealer he has on his team. Other tanks can achieve this by building this item 
, but Amumu builds this item, too, so he doubles the benefit for his AP carries.
He does a ass ton of damage basically it's like having a jungle leona.
His niche is AoE team fight dps. Though his damage has been steadily reduced over the years iirc.
