Normals are worse than Ranked....

The end of this season has been a humbling experience for me.

As someone who mostly plays ranked, I started to play normals to preserve my rank for the rewards. I did this so I could practice, try different champions, etc. I haven't really gone back to playing ranked again yet...but holy crap are normals awful.

The quality of gameplay, player, and just everything is so much less than in ranked. It's honestly eye opening.

I did it to practice...but practicing in normals is like trying to lift at the gym but someone is throwing tiny pieces of paper the entire time at your face.

I miss you my angst ridden, game raging, and childish ranked brethren. I will be promptly returning after this post.

Your normal mmr and ranked mmr are separate, so not playing normals for a long time could have tanked that rating down into bronze/unranked territory.

On the flip side, my normal mmr is generally much higher than my ranked, because I play many times more normal games, and at far lower stress levels.

Practice in 1v5 intermediate bots. Its just about the same difficulty as normals without having to deal with anyone else.

Since you predominately play ranked, most likely your ranked mmr is higher then your normal mmr. In ranked you will most likely be going against gold level of players, but in normals, you will probably be dealing with bronzes/silvers/unranked. I say just try team builder, the queue times take a little longer, but I feel you get harassed less unless you pick a FF jungler and AFK farm for 15-20 minutes despite your lanes being ganked all day. This way you can actually get the role you want and practice the champion you want, just try to pick something... decent or that doesn't come off trolly as people will usually dodge it, increasing your time in queue.

Counterpoint: it's fun to screw around in normals and not have to give a crap how the game goes. (Not like I feed or anything, but I'd never try Teemo jungle in Ranked...)

This happens to me every time I spam ranked and need to find a new strategy to exploit the players in my current elo. Win a couple games and it becomes at least somewhat bearable. The games will probably never be "good", or even less cringe-worthy than ranked, but it's a pretty decent way to experiment and in highish mmr people just do what they want and not give a shit about what others are doing so it's very chill.

And then you try playing at 4 AM and get, in the same game: Deathcap > Full atkspd Teemo Ezreal mid that rushes mobos with furor. Because Ezreal has a hard time dodging an Ahri's skillshots? Brand ADC that goes Face of the Mountain > BotRK > Randuims And me playing Nunu and somehow messing up my Q/smite combo every steal because it's 4AM. Good times.

People don't tryhard enough in normals to get quality practice I feel like. Its too easy to stomp cause most people are just fucking around or generally just aren't trying to win that hard.

End of Season is always hard time.

Because douches who are frustrated by ranked think they can go troll in normal because they're normals.
